Today we’d like to introduce you to Meech Icewood.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I would like to say my story began eighth grade drama club. I didn’t know anything about acting and I felt like I was one of those kids that felt like they were too cool for school so I kind of didn’t really get into like what was going on in the class. But once I get out of my comfort zone and started having fun, I saw what acting could be and went to high school. I did stage place and I kind of fell in love with it after high school I went down a path of getting in trouble and going to jail and getting caught up in the wrong crowd and I also started my music career so after a few years, I decided like maybe I should do some independent movies here so it can help no boost my music career and once I got into the independent scene here, I just kept getting calls for auditions and roles, and I was so embrace by the community here that my acting career took over for my music career and I just been acting ever since
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I would like to say yes and no only because in acting I’m my biggest critic so there’s nothing anyone can say to me that I haven’t already said to myself like man this sucks I could’ve did better. I hate seeing myself on screen you know I always have imposter syndrome and I try to get out of my head about it and then you just go into you not getting certain roles anymore or if you are getting a lot of roles, it can stop and you won’t get another call back for months on end but on the other hand, I’m really a hard worker and I really love acting out. Want a full-time career in this so there’s things that I’ve done like even before you know I was really a part of the community I used to go on craigslist and look for auditions. I even audition in the bathroom one time for a role in a movie.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a rapper an actor and one the most proud about both of my careers is that with music my story reaches and touches people who’ve been through the same trials and tribulations I’ve been through and if I could help somebody you know, feel better about the situation or to know that they’re not alone in some of the things that they’re going through that will make me feel better and with acting it’s like I can reach people in a different way with all these different roles and stuff you know acting I can have 100 different lives and be 100 different people and some of these characters actually touch people and make them feel a certain type of way and with me being an actor that’s one of the best feelings and part of my job is to get a reaction out of people that just meant that I did a great job.
How do you think about happiness?
Honestly, I think in music makes me happy no I don’t really enjoy a lot of things I mean maybe being around friends and loved ones and stuff like that but just what gets me out of bed every morning is the fact that I’m reaching one step closer to my goals of you know becoming a household name of a musician or an actor and stuff like that I can take care of my family one day doing this so I can buy my mother a house. I can buy myself a house in a nice car and inspired people to live out their dreams to be like me you know.
