Exploring Life & Business with Michelle Anderson of Generations Soar/April’s Voice

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Anderson.

Hi Michelle, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am currently a children’s author. What inspired me to write is that I wanted parents to be able to start certain conversations through the use of a book. I also wanted to empower kids and I wanted them to see themselves in the stories the read. I am also the founder of a nonprofit April’s Voice and through this, I want to empower kids to use their voice to help prevent and intervene in child sexual abuse. All that I do is to help empower children and help them to discover their voices because as a kid, I didn’t discover my own.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
When it comes to the nonprofit and my books al about child sexuality abuse prevention, it’s a challenge because individuals don’t want to talk about it. They believe that it hasn’t happened or won’t happen to the children in their lives. I try to tell the that education is important for prevention.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
My buisness is Generations Soar, through this I wrote children’s books and help to end generational trauma, one book at a time.
My nonprofit is Aprils Voice and the Missions to provide workshops and educational services for the intervention and prevention of child sexual abuse. Through both businesses, I want to empower children to use their voice.
Because I myself experienced various forms of trauma, my motto is, “trauma will
Not win”

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
That thing that keeps you up in the middle of the night, the thing that you’ll do even if you’re not getting paid, pursue it, relentlessly.
