Meet Michele Peterson of Woofie’s of Farmington Hills

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michele Peterson.

Hi Michele, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve spent most of my career in senior leadership roles across marketing, client partnerships, and operations, where I learned how to build teams, create memorable customer experiences, and run complex businesses with discipline and heart. Over time, I realized I wanted to take that expertise and apply it to something of my own — something rooted in community, service, and high standards.

That’s what led me to Woofie’s. I saw a real opportunity in the Farmington Hills area for a premium, reliable, relationship‑driven pet care brand. We deliver mobile grooming, in home pet sitting and dog walking services. I didn’t want to just start a business; I wanted to build a local service that felt personal, polished, and trustworthy. From day one, I approached it the same way I’ve approached every major initiative in my career: with strategic planning, operational rigor, and a commitment to delivering excellence.

Today, Woofie’s of Farmington Hills is growing steadily, and I’m proud of the reputation we’re building. What got me here is the same thing that drives me now: a blend of strategic leadership, hands‑on problem‑solving, and a genuine love for creating exceptional experiences for pets and their families.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
tt definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road, and I think that’s true for most entrepreneurs. One of the biggest challenges has been finding the right employees — people who not only have the technical skills, but who also share the level of professionalism, reliability, and care that I expect for this brand.

Mobile grooming and in‑home pet care require a very specific type of person. You’re trusting someone to represent your business inside a client’s home or to work one‑on‑one with their pet in a mobile spa. That means they need strong technical ability, but also emotional intelligence, accountability, and a genuine love for animals. Those qualities don’t always show up on a résumé, so the hiring process has required a lot of discernment.

I’ve had to navigate applicants who underestimated the physical demands of grooming, candidates who weren’t comfortable with the customer‑service side of the job, and others who simply weren’t ready for the level of professionalism and consistency that Woofie’s requires. It took time — and a few hard lessons — to refine my hiring process, tighten my standards, and build a team culture that attracts the right people.

But those challenges ultimately made the business stronger. They pushed me to create clearer expectations, better training systems, and a more intentional approach to recruiting. Today, I’m proud of the team I’m building, and I’m even more confident in the quality of service we deliver because of the rigor that went into getting the right people in place.

We’ve been impressed with Woofie’s of Farmington Hills, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m known for bringing a level of professionalism, polish, and operational rigor to the pet‑care space that people don’t always expect. My background in executive leadership and client experience really shaped how I built Woofie’s of Farmington Hills — every detail matters, from how we communicate with clients to how we care for their pets. People quickly notice that we run this business with the same standards you’d expect from a premium hospitality brand.

What sets us apart is the combination of high‑quality service, reliability, and genuine relationship‑building. We’re not just grooming pets or walking dogs; we’re creating trust. Our clients know exactly who is coming to their home, how their pet will be treated, and what level of care to expect every single time. That consistency is rare in this industry, and it’s something I’m very intentional about.

Brand‑wise, I’m most proud of the reputation we’re building — a brand that feels warm, personal, and community‑centered, but also polished and highly professional. Woofie’s stands out because we blend heart with high standards. Clients feel that immediately, and it’s why they stay with us.

For readers who may not know us yet, Woofie’s of Farmington Hills offers mobile grooming, in‑home pet sitting, and dog walking, all designed around convenience, comfort, and trust. Our mobile grooming spa brings a full salon experience right to your driveway. Our in‑home pet sitting keeps pets relaxed in their own environment while families are away. And our dog walking services help busy households keep their pets active and happy.

At the core of everything we do is a simple promise: your pet will be cared for with the same attention, respect, and love we’d want for our own. That’s the standard I built this business on, and it’s what defines our brand every day

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I enjoyed reading and fashion. I was very selective with my friend group and was generally considered a leader in the group.
