Today we’d like to introduce you to Kylee Wilson.
Hi Kylee, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
In 2022, my mom, Jennifer Wilson, opened Celestial Farms Weddings & Events in Clio, Michigan. Being closely involved from the beginning gave me early exposure to branding, marketing, and the importance of visual storytelling in the wedding and events industry.
I’ve always been strong with technology. I began working at a Boost Mobile retail store at age 15, initially after school, and moved to full-time work at 17 while finishing high school. I’ve continued working full time up to the present, which strengthened my technical skills, adaptability, and ability to work directly with clients in fast-paced environments. At the end of 2023, I began providing in-house content creation for all weddings at Celestial Farms. This started as candid, behind-the-scenes content captured on my phone, allowing me to learn what moments matter most to couples and how to document them naturally. By mid-2025, I invested in professional photography and videography equipment and realized I could expand beyond candid content. I began offering professional photo and video services for businesses and brands when opportunities arose, while continuing to focus heavily on weddings at Celestial Farms. As this work grew, I launched Kylee Wilson Media as a creative brand.
Currently, my primary focus is commercial photography and videography, with a full launch of wedding videography and drone services for the upcoming wedding season. My background in technology, customer service, and on-site event experience allows me to create reliable, high-quality visual content while working seamlessly alongside couples, vendors, and venues.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been a smooth road, and balancing everything has been one of my biggest challenges. I work full time at Boost Mobile, manage in-house content creation at Celestial Farms, and am also a full-time college student at the University of Michigan–Flint pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business Management. Building my own creative brand on top of these responsibilities has required constant discipline, structure, and adaptability.
Financially, investing in professional photography and videography equipment has been difficult. Putting hard-earned money back into my business; knowing it may take time before seeing a return required patience, long-term thinking, and trust in myself. The creative field also brings pressure, including anxiety around expectations, visibility, and delivering work that meets both client needs and my own standards. Learning to focus on progress instead of perfection has been an ongoing process.
Being extremely driven has also impacted friendships and relationships. I’ve learned that not everyone will grow with you or want to see you succeed, and accepting that has been difficult but necessary. It has taught me boundaries, emotional maturity, and the importance of surrounding myself with people who value growth and effort. Often, I’m the youngest person in the room. Early on, that made confidence difficult especially in an industry where experience is often measured by age in the trade. I had to learn how to trust my voice, advocate for my ideas, and earn respect through consistency and results. Over time, I realized that being young also means bringing fresh perspective, adaptability, and an openness to learning that has become one of my greatest strengths.
I’ve also had to learn how to navigate the emotional side of business. My mom often says one of my strengths is my ability to separate emotion from decision-making; a trait she believes I get from my grandma Sue. While that can be hard to hear at times, it has helped me understand that business can be emotional without emotions needing to drive every decision. That ability allows me to stay calm under pressure and make thoughtful, professional choices. My grandma Sue passed away when I was younger, but she was a businesswoman, and through the stories people share, I see many similarities between her and myself. Hearing that has given me confidence, especially during moments of doubt. Knowing I carry those qualities with me reminds me that I am capable of handling challenges, leading with intention, and continuing to build something meaningful.
Despite the difficulties, my work ethic has always been a grounding force. Every challenge has shaped how I operate today… more resilient, self-aware, and confident in both my personal growth and the business I’m building.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I work as a multidisciplinary creative specializing in visual marketing, content creation, and brand storytelling for businesses, events, and wedding-focused brands. My work spans photography, videography, drone content, social media management, and digital design—allowing me to support projects from concept through execution and final delivery.
I create professional photo and video content for businesses of all types, including commercial brand visuals, promotional videos, and social-first content designed for real-world engagement. In addition to shooting and editing, I manage content workflows for social media, helping brands and venues maintain a consistent, intentional online presence. For weddings, this includes both professional visual coverage and behind-the-scenes content creation that captures authentic moments while aligning with a couple’s overall aesthetic.
I also have experience editing pre-recorded video content for large corporate projects, including my first major company collaboration, where I handled post-production and storytelling to meet professional brand standards for an end-of-year presentation. My technical background allows me to confidently work with advanced camera systems, drones, editing software, and digital platforms while maintaining reliability and efficiency throughout the creative process.
Currently, I am pursuing a degree in Business Management with a focus on marketing, which strengthens how I approach creative work from a strategic perspective. I don’t just create visuals. I consider audience, branding, platform placement, and long-term value. What I’m most proud of is my ability to adapt across industries and project types while delivering purposeful content that supports real business goals.
What sets me apart is my ability to blend creativity with structure. I understand how brands operate behind the scenes, how timelines and teams function on-site, and how to produce content that fits seamlessly into fast-moving environments. That combination of creative range, technical skill, and business awareness allows me to contribute meaningfully to both small-scale projects and larger, more complex collaborations.. My first—and still current—partnership with a large corporation is multifaceted, requiring me to adapt to a wide range of creative and technical needs. My role extends beyond traditional photography and videography, including creating commercial imagery, repurposing pre-filmed content into new branded assets, and supporting ongoing marketing initiatives as needs evolve.
I’m comfortable stepping into projects at any stage. I approach each challenge with flexibility, problem-solving, and a willingness to learn, which allows me to support brands in practical ways rather than offering one-size-fits-all creative solutions.
How do you think about happiness?
What makes me happiest in the business world is succeeding in my roles and helping others succeed through my work. There’s nothing better than seeing someone’s vision come to life through the media I create.
Outside of work, happiness looks like time with family and friends, traveling, and being around my animals. I’ve grown up with just about every pet imaginable, from a lizard to a horse, so animals have always been part of my life and a reminder to stay grounded and enjoy the little things.
