Today we’d like to introduce you to Zeina Laham.
Hi Zeina, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Hello everyone, my name is Zeina Laham and I am a master’s level Psychologist, TLLP; Entrepreneur; Mental Health Consultant & Speaker; and Advocate Content Creator. I founded Zeina Laham Psychology PLLC to create an empowering and culturally sensitive space for healing and growth. As an Arab American mental health professional, I’m passionate about supporting individuals in navigating the intersections of identity, culture, and well-being. My goal is to help each person from any background to feel seen, understood, and supported as they move toward balance, resilience, and self-discovery. Through this work, I aim to honor every story and foster meaningful, lasting change.Throughout my experience, I have been able to assist various populations with both mental health and behavioral health needs. I have been trained with a humanistic, and trauma informed focus, however I also utilize skills from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), positive psychology, applied behavioral analysis using play therapy and EMDR activities as applicable to clients’ needs working with a variety of age groups between ages 5-60+. As a hardworking, ambitious, and highly passionate clinician, I practice with a nuanced non-medicinal approach using alternative psychotherapy practices. My eagerness and perseverance has driven me to experience different settings and populations within the realm of psychology to provide the utmost care possible. With the duality of living in distinct cultural environments, I seek to provide culturally sensitive care tailored to one’s needs. Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As much as we hope things to go smoothly, the reality is that meaningful work takes time to build, and through determination comes growth, ease, and success. As a psychologist, I found it challenging to maintain a consistent client flow when I first started, not because of a lack of interest, but because of the gap between a client’s curiosity about therapy and their readiness to take the first step by actually booking that first individual therapy session. Many individuals, particularly from marginalized communities, express interest in mental health support while navigating stigma, fear of judgment, and uncertainty about the level of emotional engagement and commitment the process involves. Rather than viewing this as a barrier, I see it as an invitation for connection, psychoeducation, and the development of a trust-building therapeutic alliance. Through a humanistic approach, I actively work to meet people where they are, break down the stigma, and offer compassionate psychotherapy. My role as a clinician extends beyond the therapy room by advocating for mental health at conferences and hosting community-friendly wellness events to create welcoming spaces where mental health is openly spoken about and voiced, approached with openness rather than fear, supporting individuals in understanding that seeking care is a strength and that beginning the journey sooner can create meaningful, lasting change.
We’ve been impressed with Zeina Laham Psychology PLLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Zeina Laham Psychology PLLC is a mental health practice grounded in a humanistic, culturally responsive, and community-centered approach to care. The company provides individual therapy and wellness-based offerings that support clients in navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, PTSD/trauma, as well as identity exploration, burnout, and emotional regulation. Services integrate evidence-based therapy with holistic principles, recognizing that mental health is deeply shaped by personal, cultural, and environmental contexts.
What sets the company apart is its commitment to meeting clients where they are, both inside and outside the therapy room. Alongside individual therapy, the company is known for hosting community-friendly wellness events that create accessible, welcoming spaces where mental health is openly spoken about and voiced. These events serve as an entry point for individuals who may feel hesitant or unsure about starting therapy, helping bridge the gap between curiosity and readiness through psychoeducation, connection, and trust-building but never considered as a replacement of professional help.
Clinically, the company draws from integrative therapeutic approaches that prioritize the therapeutic alliance, emotional safety, and client empowerment. Therapy is strengths-based, collaborative, and paced intentionally to honor each client’s readiness and lived experience. Company-wise, the greatest source of pride is the ability to normalize help-seeking and reframe culturally sensitive therapy as an act of strength rather than stigma especially among marginalized and underrepresented communities.
What readers should know is that this company exists to make mental health care feel more approachable, affirming, and sustainable. The mission is to provide therapy, and actively reshape how mental health is understood, discussed, and accessed, supporting individuals in beginning their healing journey and creating meaningful, lasting change.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The most important lesson I have learned along my journey is that meaningful growth takes time, patience, and consistency. Early on, I realized that progress, whether in building a practice or in supporting someone’s healing, rarely happens in a straight line. People often need space, trust, and understanding before they are ready to take that first step, and honoring that process is essential.
I have also learned that connection and authenticity matter just as much as clinical skill. When individuals feel seen, respected, and met where they are, real change becomes possible. This lesson has reinforced my commitment to leading with compassion, psychoeducation, and a strong therapeutic alliance, while continuing to create spaces where mental health can be openly discussed and supported. Ultimately, the journey has taught me that showing up consistently is what allows both people trusting you with your care and meaningful work to truly take root.
