Today we’d like to introduce you to Armetris Hare.
Hi Armetris, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey has been shaped by resilience, reinvention, and a deep love for serving people through food and community.
I am a Detroit native at heart, with roots that always kept calling me back home. My professional background spans human services, investigations, and public service, where I spent years advocating for others and navigating complex systems. While that work was meaningful, I eventually found myself drawn back to something more personal—creating, baking, and bringing people comfort through food.
That passion led me to start my first food-based business, Fast & Tasty, LLC, which began as a mobile food operation in Florida. What started as a small idea grew into a full-scale food truck and catering business focused on scratch-made desserts and signature beverages. Operating the truck taught me every aspect of entrepreneurship—from licensing and compliance to marketing, customer service, and financial management. I built the business hands-on and with heart.
Life, however, had other plans. Between multiple hurricanes that impacted my business operations and the devastating loss of my husband in late 2023, I was forced to pause, reflect, and rebuild—both personally and professionally. During that period, I made the intentional decision to return to Michigan and plant my roots back where my journey began.
That transition led to the creation of Motown In Motion, LLC, my Michigan-based business that continues the mission I started—offering thoughtfully made desserts and signature drinks that feel familiar, comforting, and joyful. Since becoming licensed in Michigan, I’ve participated in pop-ups, community events, and independent catering opportunities, reconnecting with the Detroit-area community and reestablishing my brand in a new chapter.
Today, I see my work as more than a business. It’s a reflection of perseverance, creativity, and purpose. Every step—whether rebuilding after loss, relocating across states, or starting again—has shaped who I am as an entrepreneur. I’m proud of how far I’ve come and excited about what’s ahead as I continue growing, serving, and staying in motion.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Like most entrepreneurial journeys, mine has not been a smooth road—but every challenge has strengthened my resolve and sharpened my perspective.
One of the biggest challenges has been navigating unexpected life and business disruptions at the same time. While operating my food truck business in Florida, I experienced multiple hurricanes that directly impacted my equipment, operations, and income. Those events forced me to pause services, manage repairs, and absorb financial losses that are difficult for any small business owner, especially one operating independently.
At the same time, I faced a profound personal loss with the passing of my husband. Grieving while trying to keep a business afloat required a level of strength and adaptability I didn’t know I had. There were moments where survival—personally and professionally—took priority over growth, and I had to give myself permission to slow down, regroup, and reassess my path.
Another challenge was transitioning my business across state lines. Relocating operations from Florida to Michigan meant starting over in many ways—new licensing, new markets, new relationships, and rebuilding visibility from the ground up. While I brought experience with me, establishing trust and momentum in a new environment required patience and persistence.
Despite these challenges, I never viewed them as setbacks without purpose. Each obstacle pushed me to become more strategic, more resourceful, and more intentional about how I operate. I learned how to adapt quickly, protect my business, and move forward even when conditions weren’t ideal.
Ultimately, those struggles didn’t stop the journey—they refined it. They taught me that resilience, flexibility, and faith in your vision are just as important as the product you sell.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My professional life began in public service and human services, where I built a foundation rooted in structure, accountability, and advocacy. I hold a degree in Human Services and spent years working in roles that required precision, discretion, and compassion—ranging from eligibility and child welfare investigations to administrative coordination and mediation. I also had the opportunity to intern with Detroit Police Homicide, which further strengthened my ability to operate under pressure, think critically, and handle sensitive situations with professionalism.
That background deeply influences how I approach my work today. I’m known for being organized, detail-oriented, and dependable—someone who understands compliance, documentation, and the importance of doing things the right way, even when no one is watching.
Entrepreneurship became a natural extension of that mindset. I transitioned into business ownership by launching Fast & Tasty, LLC, a food truck and catering business built from the ground up. What began as a passion for baking evolved into a full operation where I managed licensing, health compliance, menu development, branding, and customer experience. Over time, I developed a reputation for offering thoughtfully made desserts and signature beverages that feel both nostalgic and elevated.
After relocating back to Michigan, I established Motown In Motion, LLC, continuing the same mission while adapting to a new market. Today, my work centers on delivering high-quality, scratch-made treats through pop-ups, catering, and community events. I specialize in desserts and signature drinks that are approachable, consistent, and made with care—products that bring people together and create moments of comfort and joy.
What sets me apart is my ability to merge professional discipline with creative entrepreneurship. I don’t just sell products; I build systems, relationships, and trust. I understand both the operational and human side of business, and I bring intention to everything I create.
What I’m most proud of is my ability to rebuild, pivot, and keep moving forward—without compromising quality or integrity. Every chapter of my career has contributed to the entrepreneur I am today, and I see my work as a reflection of resilience, purpose, and steady growth.
How do you define success?
To me, success is alignment—between purpose, integrity, and the life I’m building.
Early on, I believed success was measured strictly by titles, income, or how busy I appeared. Over time, especially through personal loss, rebuilding, and entrepreneurship, my definition evolved. Today, success means having the ability to move with intention, create work that reflects who I am, and remain resilient in the face of change.
Success is being able to sustain myself honestly through my work, adapt when circumstances shift, and continue moving forward without losing my values. It’s waking up knowing that what I’m building has meaning—not just for me, but for the people I serve and the communities I’m part of.
I also define success by progress rather than perfection. Each step forward, each lesson learned, and each moment of perseverance matters. Being able to rebuild, pivot, and keep going—while staying true to myself—is success.
Ultimately, success isn’t just about where I end up. It’s about how I show up, how I grow, and the legacy of consistency, purpose, and resilience I leave behind.
