Today we’d like to introduce you to Dana Randazzo.
Hi Dana, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My path to running transportation operations started when a company I worked with launched a division focused on moving vehicles nationwide, and I dove in. I started in sales, but eventually transitioned into operations, where I really found my strength. Operations is a different skill set — it requires discipline, attention to detail, and the ability to stay insanely organized while managing constant movement and shifting variables. I learned how to spot potential inaccuracies before they became problems, and over time I was able to build and lead a team of operations specialists.
That experience is what ultimately led me to cross paths with Auto Hauler Exchange (AHX) — and I immediately knew it was something different. Royce Neubauer, our founder and CEO, was looking for a COO to help launch AHX, a marketplace for vehicle transportation that the industry had never seen. I loved the idea of building something rooted in transparency. Traditional vehicle transport often struggles with communication and mismatched expectations between shippers and carriers, and I felt like the “reality” of the process wasn’t always being properly communicated to either side. In my mind, the future of vehicle logistics has to be built on real-time communication and real expectations — and AHX was designed to do exactly that.
I took a leap of faith and was the first employee to sign on. Soon after, we secured seed funding, which gave us the runway to build. That first year was a major validation point — we experienced consistent month-over-month growth, strong engagement on the platform, and direct feedback that helped us improve quickly. We’ve stayed hands-on with both shippers and carriers to build one ecosystem that works better for everyone. Since then, we’ve continued to grow and scale, including closing our Series A in January 2025.
Today, we’re building the most transparent, real-time vehicle logistics platform in the industry — for both businesses and individuals looking to move vehicles across the country.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
When you’re scaling a platform, you’re constantly balancing progress on multiple fronts at once — growing the internal team, increasing platform adoption, continuing to refine the product, and making sure everyone stays aligned to the same mission. It’s a constant push to stay progressive and keep momentum without losing discipline or focus.
Another major challenge has been change management. Vehicle logistics is an industry where both shippers and carriers already have full plates, and introducing a new system can feel like “more work.” The challenge is getting both sides moving in the same direction while making their day-to-day operations easier — not harder. That requires patience, constant listening, and being willing to meet people where they are while still pushing forward.
Through all of it, I’ve learned that communication and transparency aren’t just values — they’re leadership tools. When expectations are clear and real-time communication is consistent, issues get solved faster, teams stay aligned, and trust builds naturally. That’s been one of the biggest lessons for me: transparency is what keeps people moving together, especially when you’re building something new.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Auto Hauler Exchange (AHX) is a marketplace platform that connects vehicle shippers directly to vetted carriers. At its core, we exist to make vehicle transportation clearer, faster, and more transparent — for everyone involved.
We work with a wide range of users, including dealerships, OEMs, and carriers — really any organization or individual that needs vehicles transported and any qualified carrier looking for opportunities. But what truly sets AHX apart is how we approach the process. We’re built on real-time accuracy, transparency, and strong communication — and our whole brand is built on real connections and real expectations.
Traditional vehicle transportation can feel unpredictable because expectations aren’t always aligned between shippers and carriers. AHX is designed to change that by creating a single ecosystem where both sides have real visibility, real expectations, and a better overall experience. We’re not trying to add work to people’s day — we’re trying to simplify vehicle logistics.
Brand-wise, what I’m most proud of is our philosophy and the team we’ve built around it. We care deeply about the people behind every move — the customers, the carriers, and the teams doing the work — and we’ve built a culture focused on collaboration, accountability, and improving the process every day.
What I want readers to know is that AHX isn’t just a platform — it’s a partnership. We’re here to alleviate stress, provide clear and consistent communication, and make vehicle transportation easier to navigate. Our mission is transparency for all users on the platform — carriers and shippers — and we’re building a better experience for the entire industry.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Luck has definitely played a role in both my life and business — but I’ve learned that it only matters if you’re prepared to execute when the moment comes.
On a personal level, one of the biggest “lucky” moments for me was meeting Royce when I did. The timing was right, the mission was clear, and I immediately felt aligned with where he wanted to take Auto Hauler Exchange. From a business standpoint, the timing of securing our seed funding was also a major piece of good luck. It gave us the runway to build the platform the right way and grow with intention.
That said, luck isn’t always obvious in the moment. Early on, we thought we had secured a large opportunity that felt like a huge win — but it quickly became clear that it wasn’t the right fit for AHX. It would have required too much controlling and hand-holding, and it didn’t align with the trajectory of what we were building. Looking back, it was “bad luck” that turned into protection. Not every big opportunity is the right opportunity.
Overall, I believe luck is real — but execution is everything. Luck can open a door, but execution keeps it open. You have to stay ready, stay consistent, and keep doing the work so when timing is on your side, you’re able to take full advantage of it.
