Today we’d like to introduce you to Jazmen.
Hi Jazmen, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve been in the beauty industry for over 15 years, but my journey truly began long before I ever stepped into a salon. I started by doing my own hair, then the hair of family and friends, and quickly realized I had a natural gift—not just for styling, but for helping people feel confident and seen. What started as a personal skill turned into a passion and eventually a profession.
Over the years, I became a licensed cosmetologist and built my business from the ground up through hard work, consistency, and a deep commitment to my craft. I’ve worn every hat—stylist, educator, business owner—and learned firsthand what it takes to grow in an industry that’s constantly evolving. Today, I’m the founder of The Beauty Haus of Vanity, where I focus on tailored beauty services, scalp and hair health, and education that empowers clients and other beauty professionals.
My journey hasn’t been linear, but it’s been intentional. Every step—from learning, to serving, to building—has shaped who I am today. I’m proud of how far I’ve come, and even more excited about where I’m going as I continue to grow, create, and leave a lasting impact in the beauty industry.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it hasn’t been a smooth road at all. Like many entrepreneurs, I’ve faced challenges ranging from financial hurdles and learning how to truly run a business—not just work in one—to balancing motherhood, personal life, and the demands of being a sole operator. There were moments of self-doubt, setbacks, and lessons learned the hard way.
However, every struggle pushed me to become more disciplined, more strategic, and more confident in my purpose. Those experiences shaped how I show up today—not just as a cosmetologist, but as a business owner and leader who understands the value of perseverance, growth, and staying committed even when the journey gets uncomfortable.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My work centers around more than just hair—it’s about tailored care, education, and results. As a licensed cosmetologist and founder of The Beauty Haus of Vanity, I specialize in natural hair care, protective styling, extensions, locs, and scalp health. I’m especially known for my personalized approach—no two clients receive the same plan. Every service is intentional and rooted in the long-term health of the hair and scalp.
What I’m most proud of is the trust I’ve built with my clients and the impact I’ve made beyond the chair. I take pride in educating my clients, helping them understand their hair, and empowering other beauty professionals through classes, digital resources, and mentorship. I don’t believe in quick fixes—my focus is sustainable beauty and confidence.
What sets me apart is my ability to blend skill, strategy, and care. I look at the full picture—lifestyle, maintenance, scalp health, and goals—so my clients feel supported, informed, and confident long after they leave my chair. For me, beauty isn’t just about how you look when you leave—it’s about how you feel and how your hair thrives over time.
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I don’t believe my journey has been driven by luck alone—good or bad. While there have been moments of timing that worked in my favor and others that didn’t, what truly shaped my life and business was how I responded. Every opportunity I have today came from showing up consistently, even when things weren’t easy or ideal.
If luck played a role, it was in the form of lessons. Challenges forced me to sharpen my skills, strengthen my mindset, and trust myself more. I’ve learned that preparation, discipline, and persistence matter far more than chance. I’ve built my business intentionally, and I’m proud that what I have today is the result of effort, growth, and staying committed to my purpose.
