Conversations with Michelle Meiring

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Meiring.

Hi Michelle, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
In 2012, we opened FiveOneSeven Salon & Spa with a team of 12. Since then, we’ve grown to more than 20 talented team members and built a strong associate program designed to mentor those new to the industry and support them in building successful, long lasting careers.

Our focus has always been on cultivating a positive team culture and continuously strengthening our skills and collaboration. This commitment allows us to provide a high-value, memorable experience for every guest who walks through our doors.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Like every growing business, we’ve experienced our share of challenges over the years. As our team expanded and we developed new departmental structures, we had to learn sometimes through trial and error, what truly supports our people and creates genuine happiness for both our team and our guests.

The year 2020 was especially difficult. Like many businesses, we were closed for three months, and even after reopening, we faced significant obstacles: limited services, inventory shortages, and the constant responsibility of prioritizing the health and safety of our team and our community.

Through these experiences, we’ve learned that the ability to pivot for the greater good is not just important, but essential. These challenges have strengthened our adaptability and reinforced our commitment to serving with care, clarity, and resilience.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
When it comes to what we professionally specialize in, our greatest accomplishment and the work we feel most honored to do is serving as coaches and educators for our team. As sisters and business partners, Teresa and I take tremendous pride in mentoring those who are new to the industry, helping them build the confidence and skills they need to do what they love.

We are equally proud to support our more seasoned team members. Our coaching extends through every stage of a career, focusing not only on advanced technical skill but also on the business-building and professional development that elevate long-term success. Creating an environment where each individual can grow, evolve, and thrive is at the heart of our leadership.

Beyond our passion for education, I personally love being able to offer a wide variety of services to my guests, from hair and nails to spa services. Whether someone comes to look good, feel good, or both, I’m committed to ensuring every guest receives an experience that supports their confidence, comfort, and well-being.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Favorite Childhood memory would be our family trips up north. Teresa and I loved going to the beach where the Platte river runs into Lake Michigan and being able to swim and be at the beach all day with our family
