Hi [email protected], we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I found my love for baking when I was decorating cookies with my family for Christmas when I was younger. This led to me attending culinary school with a focus on pastry. After going through many iterations of treats I enjoyed baking, cupcakes, cakes, macarons, etc., I finally found my passion for decorating sugar cookies. I worked at a bakery for years and after some time, I decided to take the leap and start my own cookie business. This upcoming March marks my sixth year in business!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
With every small business there’s always some roadblocks here and there, the biggest obstacle in the beginning of starting a cookie business is gaining trusted clientele. Once you have a clientele that trusts your work and creativity, everything goes up from there.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I specialize in intricately decorated sugar cookies; I am known for my attention to detail no matter how small. My sugar cookies are not only beautifully crafted, but they are also delicious. One of my biggest secrets to keeping my business running is my signature lemon vanilla bean sugar cookie recipe that keeps customers coming back for more. I am proud of how far my business has come and all the changes along the way, from cookie pop ups at farmers markets to cookie classes to custom orders that celebrate every life event. If you are craving a chocolate chip cookie- we have cookie flights crafted by my boyfriend that are also a huge hit with our customers. We are always testing new recipes to keep the menu fresh.
How do you define success?
I define success as the ability to wake up every day and love what I do with my career. I am bringing joy to people through edible art and I wouldn’t trade that for the world. I get to be a small part of so many life events, weddings, baby showers, birthdays. Success to me is bringing people a small bit of joy wherever I can.
