Today we’d like to introduce you to Mark Green.
Hi Mark, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always enjoyed sharing my talents and gifts with others. I grew up in a family that played music and sang all the time, so at the young age of five I started playing the lead guitar. By the time I was seven I played the guitar in my church service for the very first time and I’ve been playing since that time. My mother played piano in church so I’d watch and listen to her while I was playing the guitar, I’ve always loved piano music. So a few years later I started taking interest in the piano and started learning how to play. That’s when I noticed that I had been blessed with the gift of music and it was given to me to share with anyone that would receive it. As I got older I started visiting senior communities and playing the piano for the residents, I’ve always enjoyed visiting with the seniors and sharing the gift of music with them. During the pandemic when everything was on pause I discovered that I had a hidden talent in art. This is when I had a strong curiosity about a mango seed one day before I threw it in the trash. I started examining this mango seed very closely, then the process of transforming these mango seeds into reversible pendants came to me. So I developed a six step process from start to finish to make wearable pendants and earrings. As my collection started to grow, another thought came to me, which was to start making wall art and using the mango seed pendant as the center focal point of my 8×10 art pieces. Once I figured out how to attach the reversible pendant to the wall art each piece has become easier for me to make. This past July and August the Waterford Township Public Library featured my Sow Good Seeds Art Collection Exhibit. My Sow Good Seeds Art Collection Exhibit will be on display at the Lake Orion Public Library in February 2026, and then at the Southfield Public Library in March 2026. As stated earlier I’m a person that enjoys sharing my talents with others, I also enjoy learning new things and being open to new opportunities. In September 2022 I was presented with an opportunity to produce and host my own radio show on 89.5 FM WAHS in Auburn Hills, MI. So on October 11th I hosted my first show called An Hour Of Jazz with Mark L. Green which airs every Tuesday evening from 6-7 PM EST. After a few months of producing and hosting my Tuesday evening show I added a second program which is a traditional gospel broadcast called Lift Him Up that airs every Saturday and Sunday morning from 8-9 AM EST on 89.5 FM WAHS both shows can be heard from anywhere in the world www.wahsradio.org.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I really haven’t had any challenges or obstacles to prevent me from sharing my music, artwork and radio shows with others.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I transform mango seeds into beautiful pieces of jewelry, reversible pendants and earrings. I also paint 8×10 pieces of wall art making the pendant the center focal point of each piece. Each of my reversible pendants are unique and one of a kind.
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
Producing and hosting my own radio shows are resources that are very beneficial to me because being in the radio station has become another outlet for me. Being on air is really relaxing for me.
