Inspiring Conversations with Jessie Potter of Innovative Holistic Centered Care

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessie Potter.

Hi Jessie, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Where to begin? I’ve always loved a good puzzle, and I’ve always loved helping people. From a young age, I knew healthcare was where I belonged. My uncle has been a chiropractor for as long as I can remember, and growing up, I truly believed he had the coolest job in the world. I would ask him to come speak to my classes whenever I could, there was something about what he did that felt almost magical.

Initially, I enrolled in the nursing program at Madonna University. Chiropractic is a 3.3-year postgraduate program, and it took time for me to realize that was the path meant for me. As I moved through nursing school, I began to notice that much of what I was learning didn’t resonate with me on a foundational level. I had spent years watching the types of patients who walked into my uncle’s office… people he helped not only stay healthy through every stage of life, but also those who came to him as a last resort after everything else had failed. They often left with answers they had been searching for for years.

That experience stayed with me. I made the difficult decision to leave Madonna and enrolled at National University of Health Sciences, where I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Science and went on to receive my Doctorate in Chiropractic Medicine.

I’ve always had a deep love for nutrition and education, especially helping patients understand how interconnected the body truly is, and what their symptoms are trying to communicate. Over the years, I’ve completed countless hours of continuing education in muscle testing, functional blood chemistry interpretation, nutrition, and physical medicine to help my patients heal more completely.

After graduating, I had the privilege of working alongside my uncle in his practice, the very person who inspired me to pursue this career. During that time, I also learned from many other incredible doctors. A few years into practice, I felt a strong pull (maybe even a shove) to take a leap of faith and open my own business in the community where I grew up. With encouragement from another mentor who believed deeply in my skills and knowledge, I took that leap.

Before chiropractic, I spent 14 years working in the automotive service industry. People often ask how I went from cars to bodies, and my answer is simple: it’s the same work. Problem-solving, listening, understanding systems, and fixing the root cause instead of the symptom…it’s just a different kind of engine.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Is anything ever a smooth road?

Finding my path wasn’t linear. I declared several majors before realizing they wouldn’t lead me where I wanted to go. While I was in nursing school, I ended a long-term engagement, moved out of state to Illinois for chiropractic school, and had to figure out who I was on my own for the first time. It was terrifying and also one of the most transformative experiences of my life.

It took me longer to get through school because I worked multiple jobs to avoid taking on excessive student loan debt. The cost of education and living was overwhelming, at one point, my rent was more than my first mortgage payment. I’m also a hands-on learner, and traditional lecture-based education didn’t always align with how I learn best. I need to apply information and connect it to something tangible, which made the journey more challenging at times.

During my first year away, I drove home nearly every weekend because I missed my family so deeply. Eventually, I found an incredible group of friends who became my chosen family, and that support changed everything.

While I was away at school, my grandmother’s health began to decline. She was my person, my whole world. By the time I returned home after finishing school, her health had worsened significantly. She passed away in March of 2019, and that loss was a profound emotional turning point in my life.

When I opened my practice, I wanted her presence woven into it. Numbers have always held special meaning for me, and I used the numbers from her birthday and their corresponding letters to create the name Innovative Holistic Centered Care, a quiet tribute to her.

After her passing, I became a mother… during a pandemic, no less. Experiencing the medical system from that perspective changed me. It strengthened my resolve to help patients feel empowered, informed, and confident advocating for themselves and their loved ones. That experience deeply shaped how I practice today.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Innovative Holistic Centered Care?
I own a holistic, patient-centered wellness practice that blends chiropractic care, functional nutrition, and mind-body techniques to help people heal at the root cause level. My work goes far beyond temporary relief. I help patients reconnect with their bodies, understand what their symptoms are communicating, and create sustainable, meaningful change in their health and lives.

I specialize in functional lab analysis, chronic stress and nervous system dysregulation, women’s health, gut health, chronic pain, and emotional-physiological patterning. Many of my patients come to me after trying “everything” and finally feel seen, heard, and understood. I’m known for being thorough, intuitive, evidence-informed, and deeply collaborative.

What truly sets my practice apart is that I treat the whole person, not isolated symptoms. I bridge structural, biochemical, and emotional health in a way that feels supportive and accessible rather than overwhelming. I take the time to explain the why behind symptoms, empowering patients with clarity, education, and practical tools.

I integrate chiropractic adjustments with functional medicine, nutritional therapy, nervous system-based work, and techniques such as Neuro Emotional Technique (NET) to support the full picture of health.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of creating a safe, judgment-free space where people feel genuinely heard. My brand stands for compassion, curiosity, empowerment, and evidence-backed holistic care. I want readers to know that healing doesn’t have to be complicated, and you don’t need to be perfect to begin. My practice is a place where people can exhale, gain clarity, and move forward with support.

My offerings include chiropractic care, functional nutrition consultations, personalized supplementation plans, functional lab testing, emotional stress-pattern clearing, and comprehensive wellness programs for deeper transformation. Whether someone is navigating chronic symptoms, overwhelming stress, or simply seeking a more integrative path to wellness, my goal is to provide direction, tools, and support so they feel better in their body and more empowered in their life.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
I don’t know if I can pick just one. Some of my favorite memories are the road trips and camping adventures we took as a family. I’m extremely close with my younger brother and parents, and so many of those memories involve being outdoors, exploring nature, being in the water, and just being together.

We spent a lot of time traveling to Tennessee, and as a kid, driving through the mountains and feeling like I could touch the clouds was unforgettable. Quality time with my family means everything to me. And concerts… I’ve been going to live music shows since I was seven years old. That’s always been a happy place for me.
