Today we’d like to introduce you to James Lindsey.
James, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am a Hip Hop Lyricist, an Author, Poet, Actor, Script Writer and Mentor. I started my journey as an artist in College ( Ferris State ) when I was part of my first Hip Hop group Grand 76rs. After College I created Up North Ent out of Grand Rapids Mich. I also began writing and performing Poetry during that time in 1999. Up North dropped our first album 2003. We crafted our artistry during the early 2000’s in the Detroit underground Hip Hop scene. A move to Atlanta put a hold on the music and I began to craft my poetry niche’ while performing a number of times on Atl radio and having my own poetry spot. I would also start writing my book Toppling Tourettes at this time. After living in Atl for 10 years I moved back to Michigan and to Detroit after a year back in Grand Rapids. Once in Detroit I started getting back involved with Hip Hop and I also finished by book Toppling Tourettes on Amazon Books and became a Published Author in 2024. I created my second group Creative Space in 2024 as well. We dropped our first album Creative Space in 2024. During creation of the Creative Space album I began to write songs for my solo album Destiny which is currently on all platforms after its release this past August. I also put my acting cap back on as I have a role in upcoming movie….Boss Sh!#. My Entertainment journey has been a blessing and has continued to elevate my goal during my lifetime. I want to continue creating and sharing my talent with the world! I will continue elevating James Earl Jonz the Artist who wears many hats. I am a Creator and most of all……I am Hip Hop. I make music for the Culture. We are RSMMG
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has never been a smooth road but being a creator has made the road one that I have no problem traveling. The love for my artistry makes it all worth it. I started as a Hip Hop fan at the age of 10 and now 43 years later I am not only an established artist but I continue to create and elevate the Hip Hop culture I have grown to love. I love my camp RSMMG- We now make Adult Contemporary Hip Hop music….. for the world, Word Up!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a Creator in all aspects. Songwriting, Scriptwriting, Poetry, Book writing and everything under the creative Branch. I am focused on Adult Contemporary Hip Hop music that will help elevate minds. I am most proud of my new solo album Destiny. I am equally proud of my book Toppling Tourettes which has helped a number of youth continue to march forward towards their goals knowing only they can hold themselves back. Nothing can stop you but you is my message
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Stay focused, stay driven and continue to create goals while pushing forward towards the tomorrow you see in your future. Keep creating and keep molding yourself into the artist you want to be. Keep the Lord first and trust that he will open doors for You…be prepared to walk through those doors and bring your light through to the other side….
