Hi Anna, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I quit a 13 year career in Molecular Diagnostics to start a retreat brand. Even though I was successful and making more money than I ever thought I would, I was wildly unhappy. I started burning my life time and pursuing what I actually wanted, which was a foreign concept. Now I host adventure retreats all over the world and help women plan and host their own profitable retreats but we mostly talk about pursuing a life you love.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No. I quit my corporate gig in October of 2019, right before the pandemic and had to cancel 6 retreats that I had planned for 2020. I got asked by my previous employer to come back two different times and it was hard to turn it down. I wasn’t interested in going backward, and had to dig deep to surrender to the process.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Wandering Roots?
I’m most proud of building an approachable brand. I believe wellness looks different person to person and for me day to day as well. I wanted to host retreats that felt approachable and I think we did that. I also got into planning retreats for other people during COVID. I had the gift of time to create services to support other women in wellness that had been wanting to host a retreat but didn’t know where to start. I’ve enjoyed the planning and supporting these entrepreneurs more than I thought I would and have recently shifted my focus to more of this side of the business.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
That I’m an introvert that loves alone time 😉
