Today we’d like to introduce you to Nydia The Serpent Sage.
Hi Nydia , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Absolutely. My story is one of remembering rather than becoming.
I started like many people in the wellness space—searching for answers to my own imbalances, my own emotional weight, and the parts of life that didn’t make sense logically. What I didn’t know then was that everything I was questioning would eventually lead me into a path that blends mysticism, science, and ancestral wisdom.
For years I worked with cannabis quietly, first as a personal practice and then as a sacred one. The plant became a teacher long before I had language for what I was experiencing. Over time, cannabis stopped being something I consumed and became a living ally I communed with. That shift opened the door to ceremonies, breathwork, meditation, and eventually my role as GanjaClergy.
From there, life kept placing me in front of the right teachers. I studied energy work, acupressure, Reiki, herbalism, Taoist practices, and divination. I became a death doula and began guiding people through the transitions that demand the most presence. Each modality deepened my understanding of the body, the spirit, and the unseen.
My path expanded again when I began training in the sacred use of animal venoms. Snake venoms, in particular, became a profound bridge for me—uniting biology, chemistry, ancient ritual, and the mythic archetype of the serpent. Venoms taught me about transformation, clarity, character, and the electric intelligence of the body. They became medicine for the physical and the spiritual in ways that continue to evolve with every client I serve.
In 2024, my son and I were initiated into the Ifá tradition in Osogbo, Nigeria. That initiation changed everything. It grounded my purpose, sharpened my integrity, and anchored all of my work in a lineage of wisdom and divination that predates colonial interruption. It helped me understand why I had been called to plants, to energy, to venom, to healing, and to leadership.
Today, I operate as The Serpent Sage—an educator, clergywoman, and guide who helps people heal through consciousness, ritual, and the intelligence of nature. I host ceremonies across Michigan, teach workshops on cannabis spirituality and cultural appreciation, and run a growing online temple where people learn to commune with themselves and their environment more deeply.
My work is a synthesis of everything I’ve lived:
science and mysticism, plant and serpent, earth and spirit, discipline and intuition.
And I’m still evolving, every day, just like the people who come to sit with me.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not at all—and I’m grateful for that. My path has required a level of courage, trust, and self-reinvention that most people never have to touch.
Working with cannabis as a sacrament, and later with snake venoms and ancestral practices, meant stepping into spaces that society doesn’t always understand. I had to navigate stigma, cultural misconceptions, fear-based narratives, and even criticism from people who cared about me but couldn’t yet see the vision.
One of the biggest challenges was learning to trust myself while walking a path that didn’t have a blueprint. There is no handbook for becoming clergy in a sacred plant tradition, for integrating scientific venom work with spiritual transformation, or for being a Latina woman leading ceremonies in industries where we are often underrepresented.
Another struggle was learning to hold boundaries. As I grew, not everyone grew with me. Teachers became peers, peers became students, and some relationships fell away entirely. Outgrowing people is painful, but it taught me discernment and devotion to my purpose.
There were also practical challenges—single motherhood, building a business from scratch, homeschooling my son, and learning how to sustain myself financially while staying aligned with integrity and ancestral responsibility. It forced me to develop discipline, structure, and trust in the unfolding.
And yet every “struggle” sharpened me.
Every challenge pushed me deeper into my studies.
Every obstacle clarified what was mine to carry and what wasn’t.
I like to say my road hasn’t been smooth, but it has been sacred. Every lesson I’ve lived is embedded into the work I offer today, and that’s why I can guide others through transformation with clarity, compassion, and real experience—not theory.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The Serpent Sage?
Under The Serpent Sage, my work is rooted in transformation, ritual, and the intelligent healing systems found in nature. What I’m most known for — and what truly sets my brand apart — is my venom-infused alchemy. I work with a range of snake venoms and botanical allies to create highly intentional oils and salves that support the body in ways many people were taught were impossible.
These blends have been commissioned to address:
– stretch marks
– scars
– varicose veins
– psoriasis & eczema
– lipedema
– chronic inflammation
– and long-standing tissue imbalances
Every formulation is hand-crafted, blessed, energetically guided, and customized with precision. The results we’re seeing are reshaping what people believe is healable.
Recently, I launched my Stretch-Mark Alchemy Trial, where a select group of participants are experiencing my venom-infused formulations in a guided 90-day protocol. The transformations emerging from this trial have been powerful — not only in the physical softening and fading of marks, but in the emotional reclamation that happens when someone realizes their body is capable of repairing what they were told was permanent.
This trial has quickly become one of the offerings I’m most proud of, because it combines my alchemy, my ceremonial structure, and my desire to help people rewrite their narratives around their bodies.
Alongside my alchemical work, I’m also widely recognized for my signature 9 Puff Ceremony. This offering bridges recreational use and ceremonial use, giving both new and long-time consumers a new frame of reference — one rooted in intention, ritual, and internal reflection. It’s a space where individuals can return to the original purpose of the plant: guidance, clarity, emotional release, and self-accountability.
In addition to cannabis, I am a medicine woman trained to hold a wide range of sacred modalities, including:
Psilocybin
Kambo / frog venoms
Snake Venoms
Sananga
Sangre de grado (dragon’s blood)
and other plant, earth, and energy-based medicines
These tools work together or separately, to support emotional healing, nervous system regulation, ancestral remembrance, and the reclamation of personal power.
I host ceremonies, workshops, and retreats worldwide, each one curated uniquely for the individuals attending. My intake forms are detailed because I am selective — I only work with clients who are aligned and ready for the depth of transformation my spaces are known for.
My background also brings a layer of safety and professionalism that I consider essential. Before stepping into this path fully, I worked in physical therapy, gaining expertise in controlled falls, body mechanics, hands-on care, CPR, and first aid. This training helps me hold people in altered, vulnerable, or expanded states with grounded awareness and responsibility.
What I’m most proud of is the integrity behind The Serpent Sage.
My work is never rushed, never replicated, and never disconnected from the traditions, science, and spiritual frameworks that shaped it. Everything I offer — from venom alchemy to ceremonial guidance — is created with devotion, discipline, and a deep respect for the medicines and lineages I carry.
The Serpent Sage is a sanctuary for those ready to heal, remember, and return to themselves — not through force, but through the intelligence of nature and the rituals that bring us back into balance.
That is the heart of my brand, and what I want every reader to know.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
Absolutely. My path may look solitary from the outside, but it has been shaped, strengthened, and held by many people, lineages, and experiences along the way.
First, I want to honor my son, Aramis. He is my greatest motivation and mirror. Every evolution I step into, I step into because I want him to see what is possible outside of limitation, stigma, or fear. He has grown alongside me, traveled with me, sat in ceremony with me, and witnessed the unfolding of The Serpent Sage from its earliest roots.
I also honor my Ifá family and the elders in Nigeria who initiated us and anchored me into a lineage that has brought clarity, grounding, and spiritual responsibility into every part of my work. Their wisdom, discipline, and devotion continue to guide my steps.
I am grateful for the teachers and mentors who came into my life at the exact moments I needed them — from energy work, to herbalism, to movement practices, to working with earth medicines. Some were formal relationships, some were brief but pivotal, and some supported me simply by reflecting my gifts back to me when I was still learning how to trust them.
I also want to acknowledge the clients who took a chance on me long before my brand was fully formed. They trusted my hands, my intuition, my training, and my medicine. Their results, testimonials, and word-of-mouth support built a foundation that no marketing strategy could replicate.
I’m grateful for the cheerleaders who have championed me quietly — the friends who held space for my growth, the community members who traveled to sit with me, the people who believed in my ceremonies, my alchemy, and my vision before the world understood what I was creating.
I also want to thank the women in my current Stretch-Mark Alchemy Trial. Their trust, vulnerability, and devotion to the 90-day process have pushed my work forward in ways I couldn’t have predicted. They are proving — day by day — that the body can heal beyond what we’ve been conditioned to believe.
And finally, I want to honor the medicines themselves — the plants, the venoms, the rituals, and the ancestral technologies that continue to reveal themselves through my work. They’ve been my greatest teachers. I also honor the lifetimes of work that assigned me to return in this incarnation and recapture my lineages, my medicines, and my purpose. I stand here today carrying all of that — for the ancestors, for the ones who walked before me, and for all of you who are remembering yourselves through this work.
My journey has been guided by many hands, seen and unseen, and I’m proud to stand where I am because I didn’t walk here alone — I walked here with lineage, devotion, family, and a community that believed in me every step of the way.
