Check Out Jane Donnelly’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jane Donnelly.

Hi Jane, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I would never have been able to name my story early on as a slow spiritual awakening but I believe that might be the correct title. I also believe that we are all perhaps on an evolutionary journey to refine ourselves and awaken as we trudge through the components of being born human into so many societal behaviors, circumstances and life experiences. I was raised Catholic. I never felt deeply connected to the religion but always felt a connection to the spirituality. I thought saints seemed fascinating and mystical. I always had a closeness to Mother Mary and Mary Magdalene. I always had a keen sense of how other felt, the condition of other’s health and a sense of energy in a room. I kept that awareness to myself, When I was in high school, I had gone through some life changing events that left me questioning my own beliefs, and doubting my worth in the world for the disappointments I may have caused others. Late one night, I was awakened and went to the window to look out. I saw an orb of light come from the sky to my roof, where Mother Mary appeared. Of course, I questioned this apparition, mostly feeling myself unworthy of such an encounter. She spoke to me in quiet tones and then was gone. I woke the next morning remembering the “dream”(?), however, it felt as real as seeing my hand before my eyes. I could see every detail EXCEPT what she had said to me. That conversation stayed with me for my whole life, much of it, trying to figure what I was supposed to do through that conversation, how was I suppose to carry out her mission for me if I couldn’t remember. Later I recognized that the shame and self doubt was the block to me remembering. Moving away to college, I think was the next step to become more culturally aware and the opportunity to experience more diversity in life. This opened my eyes to more suffering in the world and more empathy for the people in it. After I met and married my husband and moved away to Michigan, I would get glimpses of what Mary had discussed with me that would wash through me as new heightened awarenesses of understanding of myself and other people. Losing more judgement and gaining more of an empathic view. My children helped me hone my empathic abilities, as they all had and have these amazing empathic gifts There were times when that was confusing for them but I had gained enough knowledge to be able to help foster their abilities rather than shut them down. As the kids were growing, I help manage a large fitness facility and at that time, yoga was not yet popular. I had taken a workshop about yoga. I had not yet begun to practice much but was asked to begin a new yoga class on the schedule until the instructor could arrive to take over. I stepped on the mat that day to teach and had an overwhelming wave of energy course through my whole body. It was a feeling of coming home, being in the right place and the right time. Like complete peace living in me. And that began my journey into studying and teaching yoga..The philosophy and science of yoga set me on a path of understanding the world, myself, more unconditional love, self regulation and the ability to begin to live as an observer along the path of choices, actions and decisions. Soon after my first certifications through Yoga Fit, I could feel that the teachings had such a tremendous depth to them and went to study under a Tantric Hatha Yoga teacher. This practice of Hatha yoga was learning to use yoga as a toll to regulate energy in yourself and teach in ways to facilitate energy to uplift or calm down. During meditations I was initiated into a connect to an image of a golden thread. This golden thread was what ultimately led me to thisyogua teacher and the Reiki Master that attuned me in the Usui Method of Natural Healing. I became a reiki Master to be able to pass attunements to others. These attunements shifted energy in me to be able to open up to more gifts with more practice. This evolved into the ability to receive messages from angels and guides for clients in session, as well as those that had passed. The ability to know where energy feels misdirected, stagnant or overwhelming. I have since added learning the practice of Ayurveda, a whole body holistic health system that helps people heal and balance based on the constitution of how their energy runs. The science of energy work, yoga and ayurveda together all compliment one another to offer a private practice approach for clients to be seen heard and understood personally and individually.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I would describe the road as more of a roller coaster. There were times of being in close touch with awareness and times of feeling far away from myself. The journey is ongoing. And forever learning and altering. I think it’s a struggle when you go into the depths of patterns and test yourself in trying to find a new way to see people and the world. Its been difficult to be the observer when Ive lost my way of remembering who I am truly. I think when you change, you ultimately don’t hold onto all of the people in your life and that can be challenging too.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
