I didn’t start my Airbnb journey with a roadmap, just faith, personal knowledge, and the little funds I had saved. Back in 2019, I was working at Graphic Packaging, grinding 9–5 and wearing my hands down until they literally started giving out on me. That was my sign. I knew I had to choose myself, my dreams, and my future.
So I took a leap. No fancy courses. No mentor holding my hand. Just vision. I launched my first Airbnb and prayed it would work. And then one turned into two… two into three… and now four successful Airbnbs that continue to grow under Steadii Properties.
But that didn’t mean I stopped working. I’ve been clocking in 9–5 all these years, because I believe money should make more money. I also stepped into a completely new field and became a certified nurse aide, specializing in direct support while still maintaining my properties. It wasn’t easy juggling both worlds, but discipline became my superpower.
Every step taught me something: you don’t need to have it all figured out, you just need to start. I’m proof that a minority entrepreneur can build something steady, intentional, and successful with grit and consistency.

Some of the biggest struggles along the way came long before the money ever showed up. Creating a trustworthy team was one of the first challenges. Learning who truly had the same work ethic, who I could rely on, and who I needed to let go. Every mistake cost time and money, but it also taught me how to protect my business and my peace.
Finding the right properties wasn’t easy either. I had to learn to recognize red flags, understand what makes a home profitable, and stay patient when the deals I wanted fell through. Patience became a skill I never knew I needed.
Another struggle was putting myself in rooms I once felt like I didn’t belong in. As a minority entrepreneur, walking into certain spaces felt intimidating. But I realized growth happens in uncomfortable places. Eventually, the same rooms that scared me became the rooms where I showed up with confidence.
Opening up and communicating on a professional level was another learning curve. I had to learn how to advocate for myself, negotiate, ask questions even when I felt unsure and present my business with pride.
But the hardest part of all was staying focused when things got overwhelming. There were moments I wanted to quit, moments where everything felt too heavy, and moments when giving up seemed easier than pushing through. But I reminded myself why I started, and that kept me going.
Every struggle sharpened me. Every setback taught me something. And every season of doubt built the business I own today.
