Daily Inspiration: Meet Kelly Merry

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelly Merry.

Hi Kelly, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My Name is Kelly Merry, I am a mother of 2 young men, Brandon and Dylan, Mother in law to Marissa, Grandmother of a 1year old beautiful baby girl, Ava Rose. During the day I work as a Billing manager with a Medical practice in Farmington Hills. This was a total switch of professions after an accident being crushed by a Hilo against steel. At the time I was building a business in network marketing and took a part time job at a building supply company for the extra money needed to launch a marketing campaign.

I was walking around the corner of the isle the guy didn’t put up banners at the end of the isle and when I walked into the isle I realized he was struggling trying to jerk some product he was caught on off the machine and I heard a voice tell me to step back, this later I realized was the voice of God, no one else was in the isle it was after hours and the driver of the Hilo did not see me yet, I blacked out, the next thing I knew I was trying to rip myself away from the grips of this machine that was crushing me against steel. I couldn’t scream because there was no breath that I had to scream with. In that moment I went limp because I knew this was it I was going to be crushed to death, when the man on the machine finally realized I was being crushed he was able to back off me and I went down to the ground and finally, not sure how long, I was able to suck breath in and got up and realized what a miracle I just witnessed. The steel had a crease mark right next to where I was standing and If I had not taken that step back I wouldn’t be here today.

Over the next several years my life was continued visits every month to a pain clinic, an operation getting a cage in my neck, years of Physical Therapy and still today going through spinal treatment. I Thank God for brining me through and bringing me to the right Dr,’s that have helped me tremendously. The accident was 25 years ago and everyday has been a gift that I am grateful for and it has come with many struggles but a decision on a daily basis to continue to move forward no matter what. There have been many many lessons learned during this time.

I also work in the ministry as an assistant Pastor at New Life Church of Metro Detroit and founder of a movement, Sisterhood Global Network that we started just a few short years ago and to watch the women grow in relationship with God and with each other and now reaching out to the community has been one of my greatest joys. It has been such an honor to work with people, baptizing, preaching and teaching the Word of God, praying with and sharing the transformational love of God.

My first recall of hearing the voice of God in when I was approx. 5 years old and at that time He told me I would go through much suffering BUT He would carry me through the entire time that I would be in His hands. I can honestly say this has been exactly what I have felt that through all of the things I have been through He has always been there and I am very grateful.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Not at all lol the struggle is real! Although I can list many many struggles throughout my life I would have to say the biggest struggle for me has been to learn how not to receive everything that someone speaks to you and to be careful who you allow in that space that you need to protect.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I would say one of the things I’m most proud of is watching the Sisterhood grow. I love to see women being empowered and becoming bold in their faith. I believe when one succeeds we all succeed. I love watching us as a group reaching out to other women or to our community. We recently partnered with those that are fighting human trafficking and I am looking forward to seeing what can be accomplished through that avenue. I am also looking forward to partnering with other leaders in our community to come together to bring change,

What matters most to you? Why?
Leaving behind a legacy. So it will multiply and bring transformation to far more than I could ever do myself.
