Daily Inspiration: Meet Laura Young

Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Young.

Hi Laura, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started my journey in health and education long before I ever imagined creating Total Wellness Solutions. My background is in Mathematics and Health Education, and I later earned a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction — so I’ve always had a passion for teaching and helping others understand complex topics in simple, actionable ways.

But like so many women, my real transformation started with my own midlife health struggles. After having kids, I was doing everything right — eating clean, working out, taking supplements — yet I didn’t feel or look like my efforts reflected. My energy, metabolism, and confidence were tanking, and the traditional medical answers weren’t cutting it. That led me to functional medicine and peptide therapy — where I finally found the “why” behind what was happening.

I went on to become a Board-Certified Functional Diagnostic Nutrition Practitioner (FDN-P) and Holistic Health Practitioner (HHP), combining lab-based data with lifestyle and education. That blend became the foundation for Total Wellness Solutions and my signature program, the Midlife Metabolic Reset. Today, I help women understand their hormones, metabolism, and biology so they can finally stop guessing and start thriving — with data, strategy, and confidence.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road — and honestly, I think that’s what makes it meaningful. Like most women in midlife, I had to unlearn a lot of what I thought was “healthy.” I was overtraining, undereating, running on stress hormones, and constantly chasing perfection. When my own metabolism and hormones started to shift, I realized that what worked in my 20s and 30s no longer served me in my 40s.

Professionally, building Total Wellness Solutions also came with challenges — especially in a world that still undervalues women’s health and dismisses symptoms as “just aging.” It took persistence to carve out space for evidence-based conversations around perimenopause, peptides, and functional lab testing. There were seasons of burnout, financial risk, and self-doubt, but each phase taught me how to build smarter systems and a stronger message.

Now, I see every struggle as part of the process — it gave me the empathy and clarity to help other women navigate their own midlife transitions with data, confidence, and compassion instead of frustration and fear.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
At the heart of what I do is empowering women to live out loud — to stop shrinking themselves, to question what they’ve been told about their bodies, and to take back ownership of their health. Through my company, Total Wellness Solutions, I specialize in helping women in midlife understand their hormones, metabolism, and biology through functional lab testing, lifestyle reprogramming, and evidence-based use of peptide therapy.

I’m known for bridging the science with real life — I take what can feel confusing or intimidating and make it practical, doable, and empowering. My programs like the Midlife Metabolic Reset and Metabolic Rebalance are designed to help women uncover what’s really happening under the surface so they can finally feel strong, confident, and metabolically resilient again.

What I’m most proud of, though, isn’t just the science — it’s the movement. I wrote my book Trial and Mostly Error to share my messy, human story. It’s about the lessons, failures, and moments of doubt that shaped me. Living out loud has always been my way — unapologetic, often against the norm — because women have been silenced and dismissed for far too long.

In my research around hormone therapy and peptides, I’ve seen how knowledge truly becomes power. When women understand how their bodies work, they stop settling for “fine” and start demanding optimal. That’s what sets me apart — I don’t just teach health, I help women remember their voice, their fire, and their right to feel amazing in every decade of life.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Absolutely — I wouldn’t be where I am today without my people. My husband has been my rock from the very beginning. He’s supported every certification, late-night study session, and big, bold idea I’ve ever had — even when it meant taking risks or stepping outside the norm. His belief in me gave me permission to believe in myself on the days I doubted everything.

My parents also deserve huge credit. They taught me the value of hard work, grit, and resilience — lessons that have carried me through every season of business and personal growth. And my girlfriends? They’re my mirror and my motivation. They’ve pushed me, celebrated me, and reminded me to rest when I’d otherwise run myself into the ground.

I also credit my mentors in education — they instilled in me a love for learning and the power of teaching others. That foundation is woven into everything I do now — whether it’s educating women on their health or teaching practitioners about peptides and functional medicine.

I’ve learned that success is never solo. It’s built through community, connection, and the people who believe in your vision before it’s even fully formed.
