Starting on the brink of covid as a Buckhead valet driver for kabob land and red pepper taqueria, and bartender at Hudson grill in Atlanta Georgia, Social distancing restricted guests from sitting at my bar and slowed down the amount of patrons to valet as well. In order to make ends meet the owner of my valet company G5 parking solutions offered another opportunity with a company they partnered with which was an Auto detailing company. I said yes In Which I started traveling with them to different dealerships and assisted living communities to detail vehicles for clients of theirs. After being promised tips as well as the $10 hourly pay, the day to day documentation of my activities on social media started to render inquiries directly to my inbox asking if I was willing to come detail individuals vehicles from my Facebook, Snapchat, and instagram accounts. Noticing that the tips were not making it to me, I decided to make ends meet by doing my own details from my own following on my own. With a helpful spirit, and helpful intent my first client was a friend of a girl with multiple sclerosis, he wanted to get her car cleaned but didn’t have the expertise or time…I was honored. I just wanted to help. A Helping Hand Mobile Detailing was born. Referring to Fiverr for my logo, Perfection, two hands shaking in the shape of cars, a Google page, then business cards. Shortly thereafter, the restaurant opened back up. My valet job is back however, this time I had a business of my own and business cards. Involving cars while parking cars. A match only God could have planned. Now, all the guests coming to the restaurant to eat getting out of the vehicle saying. “Please excuse my car I know it’s a mess” I just happen to be their solution. A simple well here’s my business card turned into something I could’ve never imagined. Armed with my 2006 Chevy Impala stuffed with a vacuum small generator and 30 gallon water tank sitting on my backseat. I was off to the races. This eventually turned into a five star detailing company on Google small contracts with a few small car dealerships and mechanic shops and eventually a contract with Silverock warranty company in which covers all Drivetime and Carvana vehicles across the country. Due to insecurity and a tumultuous situation in the home with the mother of my daughter, I was forced out in which I eventually needed to move home with my family in Michigan, for my dream was to have my own restaurant and my mother partnered with Kaja Thornton and needed help building up The us cafe in Muskegon, so Instead of giving up my business, I incentivized a few close friends telling them that if they got the equipment, I could provide work for them and a month later they bit. As soon as I landed back home in Muskegon, I immediately started helping my mother with growing the café by implementing any experience, I had to help with the growth while simultaneously dispatching details to my partners in Georgia and giving them a percentage split from the work I would send them. My business in Georgia continued wow the café here in Michigan continue to grow and on the downtime when we weren’t open and off days, I would detail cars here in Michigan as well, but my priority was my mother‘s restaurant. The Detailing brand I built had been done once and I knew I could do it again when I was ready. However, the café did so well, that Jesse Wilder offered us an opportunity to partner with Berlin Springs in downtown Muskegon and we went from a café to a full-blown restaurant, and all this time I never stop detailing or dispatching details in which I was able to grow both businesses at the same time. So now we have A Helping Hand Mobile Detailing in Atlanta serving a radius of 100 miles as well as here in Muskegon, Michigan starting the radius of 30 miles and Cajun Cuisine By us is now one of the top rated seafood places to eat in West Michigan per M live only second to Muskegon‘s very own Lake Bluff Grill, which has been in business for over 20 years.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
A change in heart of the mother of my child while in Atlanta left me with nowhere to stay and a business to run in Atlanta for three months prior to reluctantly coming back home in Michigan. Also The partners that we had for Cajun Cuisine By us had a change in heart and decided to change the locks on the restaurant mid incline of our business, which left us closed due to court proceedings for almost a year..
