Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started Innovo Spa during COVID when I lost my job in the spring. We needed to make money, and I knew how to clean and maintain hot tubs.
I noticed hot tubs were being sold like crazy during this time because everyone was staying home, and or working from home now.
I approached the dealer in my area to see who was cleaning all these spas that were being sold. They said no one was cleaning them, everyone was buying! But the dealer couldn’t keep up with the demand of hot tubs. They needed help delivering and setting them up.
So I made a deal with the dealer. I would put together a delivery crew and help them deliver new spas, as long as I could pitch the new clients my cleaning program. They agreed.
I would delivery 2-4 hot tubs during the day, and in the evening, go start up the spas I had just delivered.
We started this business with $0.00 upfront. Just hustle and working with as many clients as we could day one!
Today we are the largest hot tub cleaning and management group in the Midwest. We have offices in Traverse City, Grand Rapids, and Detroit.
We serve over 1,500 clients a month, with the bulk of our work coming from short term rentals.
Our moving spas operations is still in full service, but the bulk of our business comes from cleaning dirty hot tubs!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Entrepreneurship is not for everyone. This is a very hard thing to do. The hardest career I have ever had that is for sure!
To build a business from scratch, in a space where no one else has done it, with no qualified skilled labor to pull from, and $0.00 startup funding.
In my first year, my first round of employees all turned on me and threatened to shut it down for good!
I’ve experienced a failed partnership with a pool store retail space, threatened eviction through the slow months, downed service vehicles, staff members quitting on the spot without notice, you name it!
That’s why I truly believe that you have to be super focused on what you want the end product to be.
I knew when we started day one that we would create the space for this service. We were going to be the ones creating the narrative, and that this company would be nation wide!

Innovo Spa is the largest hot tub cleaning and management group in the Midwest!
We are the only company that focuses solely on hot tub cleaning, maintenance, moving, and care. Our largest group of clients come from short term rentals and summer homes. We also take care of your hot tub at your private home as well.
We are on a mission to take this brand nation wide!
This year we began setting up operations in the South Florida markets to establish a franchising headquarters.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Look for others that have done what you are trying to do. They are invaluable to your professional growth as you are figuring out what to do. These people may not even be in the exact space that you are in, but continue to seek those that have become successful in business the way you want to.
