Paige Maurer’s Stories, Lessons & Insights

Paige Maurer shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Paige, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Just spending time with my family. I have a son who is 4 years old and he brings me so much joy and I love our adventures together!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Interior Designer, Paige Maurer holds a Bachelor of Applied Arts, including a major in Interior Design and a minor in Business and Art from Central Michigan University. Immediately upon graduating with honors, Paige started her career in the Interior Design field in Traverse City where she specialized in kitchen and bath design, along with full service remodeling. She is currently one of the area’s best and brightest designers. In 2021, Paige earned her CKBD (Certified Kitchen and Bath Designer) through the National Kitchen and Bath Association. While she specializes in kitchen and bath design, she also provides a range of services for her clients, including interior design services, interior architecture, space planning, and project management services. Paige believes “kitchens should be designed around what’s truly important- fun, food and life”.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who taught you the most about work?
My parents are the ones who instilled in me the value of hard work. My dad is the most dedicated individual I’ve ever met, while my mom emphasized the significance of self-worth and respecting one’s personal space. I feel incredibly fortunate to have learned these lessons from such a young age.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Challenging moments have shown me that on my own, I can feel vulnerable and weak, but with God by my side, I find strength.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
In my opinion, one of the biggest misconceptions in the Interior Design industry is that formal education isn’t necessary to be an Interior Designer. I firmly believe that my education in Interior Design is essential for both the industry and my clients. While I have gained a wealth of knowledge through hands-on experience on job sites, attending design school provided the crucial foundation that every Interior Designer should have before claiming to be a professional in the field.

Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. When do you feel most at peace?
I find my deepest sense of tranquility in nature, especially when I’m by the water. I also find so much peace in waking up early and having time to myself before my family wakes up.
