Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsey Thompson.
Hi Lindsey, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I went to Michigan State University, where I studied advertising — which really sparked my love for communication, creativity, and connecting people with meaningful experiences.
Today, I’m a proud mom of three amazing girls and have a wonderful husband who shares my passion for health and wellness. Together, we’ve spent most of our lives learning about ways to help people feel and function better. My husband, in particular, has a brilliant and scientific mind — he’s full of insight when it comes to the science behind red light therapy, which has been a huge part of our journey.
After doing a lot of research and seeing the incredible benefits of red light therapy firsthand, we were introduced to Light Lounge founder David Martin. That connection really solidified things for us. We knew this was something we wanted to bring to our community — a place where people could experience healing, recovery, and overall wellness in a natural and effective way.
That’s when we decided to open Light Lounge Plus in Holland, MI. It’s been an amazing experience so far — blending our passion for health, science, and community to help others feel their best every day.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
One of the biggest challenges has been educating people about what red light therapy actually is and how it works. There’s still a lot of confusion — some people think it’s similar to tanning or laser treatments, when in fact it’s completely different and non-invasive. We’ve had to focus on building awareness and trust, helping people understand the science and the benefits behind the light.
Choosing a location that felt welcoming, accessible, and aligned with our brand was another challenge. We wanted the space to be both modern and calming — a place people actually look forward to visiting. Balancing that vision with the practical needs of a high-tech wellness clinic took a lot of thought and planning.
Opening a clinic involves significant upfront investment — from the equipment to the buildout, branding, software, and staff training. It’s a lot to manage, especially when you’re committed to doing it right. We wanted everything to reflect quality and professionalism, which required patience and careful budgeting.
As a mom of three and a business owner, finding the balance between family life and running a growing wellness business has definitely been a learning curve. It takes strong organization and a supportive team (my husband included!) to keep everything moving smoothly.
The wellness industry is booming, which is exciting — but it also means there’s more competition and noise. We’ve had to work strategically to differentiate Light Lounge by focusing on our personal touch, education, and community relationships rather than just being “another wellness service.”
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?

What does success mean to you?
To me, success isn’t just about numbers or growth — it’s about impact. It’s seeing people walk out of Light Lounge feeling better than when they came in. It’s helping someone find relief, energy, or confidence they didn’t have before. Success is knowing that what we’re doing is truly improving lives — including our own family’s — and building something meaningful in our community.
