Meet Reva Oleszczuk of Studio Nudi

Today we’d like to introduce you to Reva Oleszczuk.

Hi Reva, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I became an esthetician out of a deep desire to find connection and meaning through my work. I was a bit lost in my mid 20s, and really wanted a job with flexibility, autonomy, interpersonal relationships, opportunity for constant learning, and a way to help people. I also wanted to help myself – I had severe cystic acne throughout my young adult life and was desperate for relief. Esthetics seemed to check all the boxes. I went to esthetics school in 2016 and landed my first job in the industry in Portland, OR. I moved home to Michigan 5 years later, started work at a wellness spa in Eastown, and I haven’t stopped since. Studio Nudi feels like the culmination of all my favorite aspects of the huge world of esthetics, and I’m so happy to finally share it with people.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I am so grateful for my job, I truly love it, but it is physically and mentally draining. We are on our feet, hunched over a table for hours at a time, often straining our neck to ensure we get every detail just right. Many beauty industry professionals sustain chronic back pain and injury.

Additionally, we maintain a full book of clients – each a unique relationship with its own story, rapport, preferences, needs, etc. and we take great care to nurture those relationships.

The industry can be fiercely competitive, and it is saturated from its rise in popularity on social media. But I’ve found success by staying true to what i love, honoring the years spent building my craft, and garnering firsthand experience I can share with others. Honestly, my job is incredibly rewarding – so it’s not always easy (what is?) but it’s always worth it.

We’ve been impressed with Studio Nudi, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Studio Nudi offers private sugaring and skincare services. I specialize in bikini and brow hair removal, dermaplane facials, and chemical peel treatments for all skin types, tones, ages and genders. At its core, Nudi was created to make self care more approachable, accessible and sustainable for all bodies.

My services are only a small aspect of what can make someone feel more comfortable as they move throughout the world, and I have the privilege of helping people find ways to express and empower themselves.

I focus my business on great results, consistent support and genuine connection. The studio combines all my favorite aspects of science, skincare, art, love, and culture. It’s an incredibly personal space and I am so proud to share it with my community.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
My first boss in Portland, Anna gave me the foundation on which I stand today. Her trust, patience and guidance taught me the mechanics of sugaring, the art of massage and relaxation, the science of skin transformations and the business acumen needed to sustain myself in this career.

Every job I’ve had is been incredibly collaborative, with each esthetician learning and growing alongside one another. My past colleagues have all taught me something valuable, and I treasure those relationships and experiences.

Mainly, my clients’ unwavering support has been absolutely crucial over the years. Without them, the opening and early success of Studio Nudi would not be possible. The fact I get to share space with such kind, brilliant and beautiful people is a dream. Every day I learn something new, every day is different, and they are the driving force behind my work and passion.
