Community Highlights: Meet Jennell Robinson of Lockett – Jones Realty Group

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennell Robinson.

Jennell, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I have been driven by the desire to create a lasting legacy for my two sons — my ultimate “why” — turning my passion for people into a purpose-driven career in real estate. With proud Caribbean roots and over 20 years of leadership and customer service experience, I serves as a Realtor®, Notary, and Operations Manager at Lockett-Jones Realty Group.

It brings me joy to be known for caring, nurturing approach and commitment to ensuring that my clients truly understand every step of the process — whether buying, selling, or learning about homeownership. Having helped over a hundred clients and led quarterly homebuyer education classes, I hope to continue empowering families to built generational wealth and stability.

My mission is simple: to serve with excellence, compassion, and purpose — creating opportunities today that become legacies tomorrow.

So what else should our readers know about Jennell Robinson:

I am by way of Saginaw, MI. and I bring thoughtful dedication to my work. Born in Brooklyn, New York, and rooted in my Caribbean background from Trinidad and Tobago, my goal is to infuse cultural richness into every relationship I built.

As a Realtor, notary, and Operations Manager, I draw on a broad base of knowledge and experience in the real estate industry. In my role as Operations Manager for Lockett-Jones Realty Group, the goal, alongside leadership, is to foster a supportive work environment. With over 20 years of experience in customer service and management, I train and mentor, develop policies and procedures, and oversee day-to-day operations.

Prior to real estate, I spent more than 14 years in gaming and hospitality. Starting out as a slot attendant—making payouts, interacting with guests, and managing daily responsibilities—and “retired” as a slot shift manager after helping open two nearby casinos, recruiting front-line staff, training, scheduling, and supervising operations.

Outside of my professional life, I’m a mother to two wonderful sons and the owner of the cutest pup. I find joy in caring for plants, and earlier in life, my experience modeling in local fashion shows is still something I like to dabble in from time to time . I also enjoy painting and cooking meals for those who appreciate good food.

My faith in Christ guides how I show compassion and kindness, always ready to offer support. I’m engaged in community work with organizations such as the Kalamazoo Land Bank, Kalamazoo Neighborhood Housing Services, and the Kalamazoo Public Housing Commission — participating in pop‑up events and neighborhood projects because meaningful contribution matters to me.

In 2023 I was nominated for Realtor of the Year by the Greater Kalamazoo Association of Realtors — an acknowledgment of my ongoing commitment to my profession and clients. I have a love for organizing, home improvement, and helping present properties in their best light. My relationally-driven approach allows me to build connections with buyers, sellers, and investors, understand their unique goals, and tailor my service accordingly.

I’m more than a Realtor—I’m someone who brings care into what I do. I value the opportunity to meet new people and help them in any way I can to achieve their real estate goals.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?

Real estate hasn’t been an easy road — it’s come with real ups and downs. In my early years, things moved slowly until I connected with focused agents whose consistency and strong skill set resonated deeply with me.

Since then, I have been continuously blessed with opportunities to learn alongside people who are truly strong in their craft which makes all the difference. As taken from Proverbs 27:17: “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” So it is important to surround yourself with people who are focused on thoughtful, forward progress. The latter is not an option.
