Exploring Life & Business with Kathy Elsesser of Diversified LIfe and Health, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kathy Elsesser.

Hi Kathy, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I have grown up in Michigan my entire life. When young, I watched as my father would try(experiment) with different things from solar panels on our house to starting to build an electric car to chopping down a van to make it into a truck to haul an rv trailer. He was always doing something out of the norm. I believe that is where I got my spirit to be an entreprenuer. When in my early 30’s we bought a gym franchise and built a gym that was new to the Michigan area. It was a boutique style and women only gym with full service plus more. My husband and I still worked while doing that and raising kids… I guess it is the way I grew up, always busy and working hard for what we wanted, it has never changed, If not doing multiple things at one time I guess I would be bored. After my retail career, I went into the insurance business helping those who need it the most, Medicare beneficiaries. I chose to be a broker so that my clients had many choices versus one company if they sought my help. This was a push by a friend that really gave me the insight in to the business and the nudge knowing how I am. I absolutely LOVE IT! Besides the insurance business, I have also signed up as a brand partner with a health technology company that is beyond amazing. I have seen nothing like it in my life, it is so prolific I am beyond excited for what it can do! The founder of the company has a goal to be in 1 billion households around the globe and I am going to help make it happen!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Nothing good is ever easy. Smooth I guess that depends on what smooth means to me. I can say it started slow and has been steadily growing year over year. I choose to do very little advertising since I believe that insurance is a relationship business. One of the biggest struggles along the way is the investment into the business without any income to begin with and then building by word of mouth. Though it has been a struggle, I would not change how I chose to build it.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am broker for life and health insurance. I choose to specialize in Medicare as it is where the most help is needed and I love helping others understand what is available versus trying to do it alone. I work with several companies, I focus on the health side of the business. I run the business as it used to be ran with insurance agents going to the potential client or clients house like they did when I was a kid. I offer supplement insurance as well like short term care, hospital indemnity, accident insurance as well and dental, vision and hearing plans. As a brand partner I offer technology for a holistic style of healing that is the only technology in the market that does it.

What’s next?
My future is bright. I plan on continuing helping in the insurance field but feel that is is my obligation to share the health technology far and wide. As Medicare slows thorughout the year the medical technology never slows. This will be my future for the remainder of my life.
