Daily Inspiration: Meet Mary Claire Wagner

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mary Claire Wagner.

Hi Mary Claire, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I hit a career crossroads as a approached 30 and I knew I was ready to launch into motherhood and gig/self employment economy starting with teaching Yoga. Then during my first pregnacy I started opening my eyes to this magic I didn’t pay attention too within myself, and pulled from my mothers easae surrounding her home birth experiences, so I started to follow a similiar path really believing in myself because I had the right support around me, doula, midwives & birth educators that turned my husband into a believer, parents that didn’t worry at the mention of unmedicated birth at home. It then hit me that I needed to be that light/positive engery source ( for the women who were seeking it), to be the source of comfort and affirmations, education. It began with teaching Prenatal Yoga during my pregnancy and here I am four years later, By the time my first born was 9 months old I soon realized that some of my Prenatal Yoga clients needed me to support their labor as well and so I certified as an ICEA Doula and took every class from the great teachers that inspired me starting with Gail Tully of Spinning Babies opened the doors for me to gain an even better approach to birth, then dug deeper into anatomy birth expert Lindsay Mccoy at stepping up my personal training for birth approach I take for my clients, and the Informed Birth ladies helped me approach the topic of advocacy to teach my clients how to use their voice. I’m approaching my 4th year as a Doula, and 5th year as a Prenatal Yoga teacher in 2026.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I have needed to be enouraged along the way, especially when I witnessed rough handling, obsteric violence and force methods and non consenting behaviors. I am truly thankful for the mentorship of Local and National Doulas that have shared their wisdom, and I have become better at protecting my clients in advocacy by teaching them “ahead of time” what words to use to empower their experience and be heard without being “difficult” in a patient type setting.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Aside from Prenataly Yoga & Beyond and Birth Doula, I specialize in Posture training for birth or I call it Body Work and even for non birthing folks, especially postpartum. Better posture keeps us more comfortable as we age and balancing out the body is almost a baby obsession. I have had to bring myself from some uncomfortle habits and I want every one to feel good in their body.

What matters most to you?
right now, I am big into to magic of the uterus, the historical matriarchal society, and bringing a female approach into the modern male obstettric birthing space.
