Conversations with Jean Roman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jean Roman.

Hi Jean, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
So, in late December I was down on bed rest for a couple weeks and one day a friend called to check in on me. During our conversation, he mentioned he was looking to work with someone who could assist with booking additional gigs for his hotdog cart. .We chatted for awhile and during the conversation I said, “Well I can do that!”

I had already been in event management for close to 2 decades and had a plethora of food truck contacts. From there I reached out to a company I had previously worked with to design the website, I created the social media pages, and started reaching out to all my food truck buddies. To say the least, the project took off!

After about a month or so, I had close to 50 trucks on board. Next step was reaching out to local event managers, communities, and organizations to see if they’d like to host our food trucks! I was super excited and ready to start forging this path!

That coming Spring of 2021 we were in Florida on spring break and my good friend Janet Bloom came along. One morning while I was working on my laptop, I mentioned to Janet what I was doing and asked her if she wanted to jump on board. She said heck ya, and the rest is history.

Shortly after we hired a friend to begin doing the admin and social posting and we were off to the races.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
For the most part I would say it has been fairly smooth, with the exception of attempting to juggle work, family life with kids & sports, and working full time jobs. In December of 2022 I left my full time job to pursue some entrepreneurial adventures; however I set FTTY to the side and handed it over to Janet.
We are currently restructuring the business and reconnecting with all our loyal food trucks and building relationships with local communities and organizations again.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
