Daily Inspiration: Meet Aubrey Huyck

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aubrey Huyck.

Hi Aubrey, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
10 years ago, with the help and support of my husband, I took a leap of faith and started offering freelance/traveling beauty services for weddings and other special events. Financially bringing in what I would at any other full-time, 40+ hour/ week job, only working weekends. While this all started as a way to be able to stay home with my two children during the week while still helping provide for our family, it has grown into so much more since then. This summer I opened the first ALH Esthetics beauty studio. A skin spa that specializes in several different remedies and preventative facial and body treatments. With some very exciting plans to use the experience and knowledge I have gathered, over the last decade, I am so looking forward to the future of this business. Hopefully helping or inspiring others to do the same for themselves!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Deciding to work for yourself and building a business from the ground up, has a huge learning curve. Finding balance between work time and personal time, being responsible for everything from branding, communications and marketing, to scheduling and accounting. And since life is constantly changing, often so do the ways in which you handle each task. However, while there are aspects of that process that are time consuming or stressful, the reward of being able to make it exactly what you want, and the feeling of accomplishment know that YOU DID THAT, is such a gift that will never leave you. Making any other future plans you may have, that much more possible in your mind.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in luxury facial and body skin treatments, as well as special event beauty services. Over the last ten years, ALH Esthetics’ work has been featured in dozens of publications and received awards, such as The Knot’s “Best of Weddings Hall of Fame” and “Best of Weddings” for the last eight years.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
You’re going to hit rough patches, times when you feel like you don’t know what you’re doing and maybe even moments where you doubt you can do it all , or think you made a terrible mistake. Don’t give up. Just keep going. You’re going to make mistakes along the way, no matter how long you’re doing it. The amount of lessons you will have to carry with you throughout the rest of your life, the tools that you may be able to help others with, so outweighs any of those fleeting stressful moments.
