Hi Lorena, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Creating Our Forever began as a dream that lived in my heart for over ten years. I’ve always been drawn to creativity- to colors, textures, and the way a well-designed space can completely transform how someone feels. But my path to design wasn’t a straight line.

I earned my degree in Health Information Technology, thinking it would lead to a stable and fulfilling career. It didn’t take long to realize it wasn’t where my heart was. I found myself craving something more creative, something that allowed me to connect with people on a deeper level and bring beauty, comfort, and purpose into their everyday lives. That realization became the spark that reignited my passion for design.

What started as a hobby of helping family and friends decorate their homes grew into a calling. With encouragement from my husband, Gary, a U.S. Army veteran, I decided to take a leap of faith and turn my passion into a business. Gary brought structure, discipline, and strategy to balance my creativity, and together we began building what would become Creating Our Forever.

For us, this business is about more than design. Every home we touch tells a story — not just of style, but of family, faith, and transformation. We approach every project with heart, aiming to create spaces that truly feel like “forever” for the people who live in them.

As parents of four boys, Gary and I see this business as part of our legacy — a way to teach them the values of hard work, compassion, and perseverance. Our long-term dream is to use what we’ve built to give back, especially by creating opportunities for struggling and homeless veterans to rebuild their lives through meaningful, hands-on work in design and construction.

Creating Our Forever isn’t just a business to me, it’s a reflection of our journey as a family. It’s about designing with purpose, serving with love, and building a life that leaves a lasting impact.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road — but we’ve learned that the best things rarely are. When we first started Creating Our Forever, both Gary and I were still working full-time jobs, and our four boys had busy schedules of their own. Everything we did for the business had to fit into the small spaces between work, school, sports, and family life. That meant a lot of late nights sketching designs, learning new software from scratch, and building our own systems and resources piece by piece.

There were moments when it felt overwhelming — when exhaustion set in or progress felt slow — but we always reminded ourselves why we started. Every challenge became part of the foundation we’re building for our family. We’ve come to see those early struggles as a blessing in disguise. They taught us discipline, teamwork, and perseverance, and they continue to remind us that what we’re building isn’t just a business — it’s a legacy for our boys and a platform to help others along the way.
