Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrea Gilbert-Nostrant.
Hi Andrea, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve always had a complicated relationship with my skin. Growing up, I struggled with acne — the kind that wasn’t just on your face, but under your confidence. I wasn’t allowed to wear makeup, so I couldn’t hide behind foundation or concealer like some of my friends could. Every breakout felt like a spotlight, and it shaped how I saw myself for years.
I tried everything I could get my hands on — drugstore products, DIY masks, you name it — but nothing gave me the results I wanted. It wasn’t until later that I realized skin health isn’t about covering up imperfections, it’s about understanding them. That realization changed everything. I wanted to learn why skin acts the way it does, how to heal it, and how to help others feel confident in theirs.
That curiosity and compassion led me straight into the world of esthetics. Once I found this industry, I knew I was home. Helping people love their skin became personal for me — because I know exactly what it feels like to not feel comfortable in your own.
And then came brows. Somewhere along the way, I discovered my love for shaping and defining brows — it’s where science meets art. There’s something incredibly powerful about how a perfectly crafted brow can frame the face and transform how someone feels about themselves. Brows became my favorite form of expression, and honestly, they’re one of the best confidence boosters I know.
Today, as the owner of Skinfluencer Beauty Bar, I get to blend everything I love — skin, brows, and confidence — into one space. Every client who sits in my chair reminds me of that younger version of myself who just wanted to feel beautiful. Now, I get to help them see that beauty was always there — it just needed the right touch to shine through.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Owning a business is one of the most rewarding — and challenging — things I’ve ever done. When I opened Skinfluencer Beauty Bar, I had big dreams and a clear vision, but I quickly learned that passion alone doesn’t prepare you for everything that comes with entrepreneurship.
There have been seasons of burnout, moments of doubt, and nights I sat in my studio long after closing wondering if I was really cut out for this. There were clients who didn’t show up, bills that felt impossible, and lessons I had to learn the hard way — from boundaries to balance. But every setback has shaped me into a stronger version of myself.
Being a business owner has taught me grit, grace, and how to pivot when things don’t go as planned. It’s also taught me that success isn’t just about being busy — it’s about building something meaningful. For me, that’s creating a space where women feel seen, confident, and cared for.
There’s a lot of pressure behind the scenes — keeping up with trends, managing clients, growing a brand — but when I look around my studio and see what Skinfluencer has become, it’s all worth it. Every challenge built me. Every risk taught me. And every client who leaves glowing and confident reminds me exactly why I started in the first place.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
At Skinfluencer Beauty Bar, I specialize in customized skincare, brow artistry, and lash enhancements that highlight natural beauty and build real confidence. I’m best known for my signature brow transformations and lash lifts — the kind that make you feel effortlessly put together, even on your busiest days.
What I’m most proud of is building Skinfluencer completely from the ground up. It started as a dream and has grown into a space where people feel seen, cared for, and confident in their own skin. What truly sets me apart is empathy — I’ve been the girl who struggled with acne and low self-esteem, and that experience fuels everything I do. My goal is to help others feel beautiful in a way that goes far beyond the mirror.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Some of my favorite childhood memories are from the summers I spent traveling the country with my grandparents — from California to Maine and everywhere in between. Those adventures gave me a love for people, stories, and experiences that still inspire the way I connect with my clients today.
