Inspiring Conversations with Rebekah White of Pink Paw Patisserie, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebekah White.

Hi Rebekah, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I spent almost twenty years in Human Resources, helping other people find their purpose at work — but somewhere along the way, I lost sight of my own. I was great at building teams, solving problems, and guiding others through change, but I was running on empty myself.

Animals have always been my reset button. Back in 2013, I started a little dog-sitting business out of my home. I didn’t realize it then, but it would end up being one of the most meaningful chapters of my life. Over eight years, I cared for more than 500 dogs — 290 of them repeat clients who felt like family. My house was full of wagging tails, muddy paws, and unconditional love, and it reminded me daily that dogs don’t just live in the moment — they teach us how to.

When my brother passed away unexpectedly, that loss cracked something open in me. I needed to create something joyful — something that honored him and made people smile again. That’s when Pink Paw Patisserie was born. What started as a pink van and a wild idea became West Michigan’s first dog-treat food truck.

Today, I travel to breweries, farms, and festivals across the state, sharing delicious doggie delights and connecting with incredible people who love their pets as much as I do. Pink Paw Patisserie isn’t just about treats — it’s about community, healing, and finding purpose after loss. It’s proof that joy can grow from heartbreak, and that sometimes, your next chapter starts with a wagging tail.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Honestly, it’s been smoother than I ever expected — and I don’t take that for granted. I think I must’ve been in the right place at the right time, both personally and professionally. Personally, I was ready for a change. I was motivated, excited, and craving something creative and tangible after years of corporate burnout. Professionally, I had all the right tools to build something from the ground up — I just needed the courage to do it. Once I finally made the leap, everything seemed to fall into place.

That’s not to say it’s been effortless. Keeping inventory stocked has been one of the biggest ongoing challenges. When you’re a one-woman operation with a mobile business, timing and logistics are everything. Sometimes I struggle with choosing between multiple event invitations, or I’ll sign up for an event that turns out to be a total flop (and yes, a few of those I even paid to attend!).

In the beginning, I pictured myself driving the truck through neighborhoods like an ice cream truck for dogs, or posting up outside dog parks — but so far, I haven’t had to do that. The events and partnerships have come naturally, and I’ve learned to adapt along the way. Michigan weather keeps things interesting too!

Still, I’ve never once thought about quitting. Every challenge just reinforces how lucky I am to do this, to have built something joyful and community-driven that feels like the most authentic version of myself.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Pink Paw Patisserie is West Michigan’s first and only dog-treat food truck — a mobile bakery on wheels dedicated to spreading joy, one wagging tail at a time. I sell curated, pre-made, Michigan-made dog treats from trusted small businesses that meet all state labeling and safety standards. My truck travels to breweries, farms, festivals, and markets across the state — anywhere there are people who love their dogs. Many of my events aren’t even dog-friendly; all I need are people who adore their pets and want to spoil them a little.

What sets Pink Paw apart is the experience. It’s not just about buying a treat — it’s about the connection and the moment that comes with it. I’ve seen grown adults light up when their dog gets excited to pick out a snack — it’s like watching pure happiness in motion. That’s what people feel when they visit the truck: a space built with love, laughter, and a lot of heart.

Brand-wise, I’m proud that Pink Paw Patisserie has become something recognizable and joyful. The pink aesthetic, the playful French-inspired name, and the sense of community it brings all reflect what I stand for — joy, compassion, and second chances.

Right now, Pink Paw is fully mobile, but this winter I’ll be developing my own line of treats with plans to launch them next summer. I also hope to expand into e-commerce once my recipes are ready, so people can order their favorites online.

When I started this journey, I thought growth would come years down the road. But the community response has been overwhelming — in the best way. It’s shown me that Pink Paw Patisserie is ready for its next chapter. I’m proud of what it’s become, and even more excited for what’s coming next.

What I want readers to know is that Pink Paw isn’t just a business — it’s a reminder to savor the simple things. To slow down. To spoil your dog a little. And to celebrate the moments that make life sweet, because sometimes, that’s exactly what the world needs most.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I like best about Grand Rapids is the community itself. There’s a real spirit of creativity and collaboration here — people show up for small businesses, for local makers, and for each other. It’s such a unique mix of Midwest kindness and entrepreneurial energy. I’ve met so many incredible people who genuinely want to see others succeed, and that’s rare and special.
If I had to pick one thing I like least, it would be how hard it can be for small businesses to stay visible year-round once the outdoor season ends. But I think that’s also where the community can rally — by continuing to show up for local makers in every season.
