Today we’d like to introduce you to Noize Pierce.
Hi Noize, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Man, my story’s been a wild ride. I grew up surrounded by a lot of chaos, and trauma, and for a long time I let that define me. I went down some dark paths, battled addiction, lost a lot of time, and almost lost myself completely. But one day I just decided enough was enough — I wanted more out of life. I got sober, rebuilt myself piece by piece, and poured everything I had into my work.
Tattooing became therapy for me before it became a career. It gave me purpose when I didn’t have any. I started from nothing — strung out, broke, homeless, people who didn’t believe in me, the list goes on — and I just kept going. I studied, practiced, failed, got better, and never stopped chasing the vision. That same drive led me to open The Ink Society Tattoo Collective in Jenison, Michigan — a place built on recovery, integrity, and second chances.
Today, I’m proud of how far it’s come. My shop isn’t just a tattoo studio — it’s proof that you can turn pain into purpose. Every tattoo, every story that walks through our doors, it all ties back to that mission. I’m living proof that no matter where you come from, you can rebuild everything and create something beautiful out of the wreckage.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not even close to a smooth road. I’ve hit just about every bump you can imagine. Addiction, loss, mental health battles, starting over from nothing — I’ve lived through all of it. There were times I was sleeping on couches, chasing the wrong things, and just trying to survive one day at a time. I’ve lost friends to addiction, seen what it does to families, and had to rebuild trust in my own life brick by brick.
When I decided to get sober, it wasn’t like life suddenly got easy. It was the opposite — I had to face everything I’d been running from. Starting a business while rebuilding myself wasn’t simple either. There were money struggles, self-doubt, long nights wondering if I’d make it. But I just refused to quit.
Every struggle shaped The Ink Society. It’s not just a tattoo shop — it’s a place built out of the grind, out of redemption. The pain taught me patience, the losses taught me gratitude, and the process taught me that the hard road is what makes the story worth telling.
As you know, we’re big fans of The Ink Society-Tattoo Collective. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I’m the owner and artist at The Ink Society Tattoo Collective in Jenison, Michigan. What we’ve built there is more than just a tattoo shop — it’s a space rooted in recovery, art, and second chances. I specialize in black and color work, and fine-line detail, but what really drives me is connection. Every tattoo has a story behind it — pain, growth, loss, redemption — and I take a lot of pride in turning that into art people can wear for life.
Since opening in May, it’s been incredible watching the shop grow and come alive. My artist Tyler just hit 12 months sober, and I couldn’t be more proud of him. He’s a huge part of the heart and soul of this place. The chemistry between us is unmatched — we push each other artistically, support each other personally, and share the same vision for what this shop represents. Iron sharpening Iron every day.
What sets us apart is the energy you feel when you walk through the doors. It’s not ego, it’s not competition — it’s family. Everyone who comes in can feel that this place was built with purpose. We’re living proof that you can take your past, flip it into something positive, and create something powerful together. That’s what I’m most proud of.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
What makes me happy is simple — my family, my sobriety, and my purpose. Waking up every day and walking into the shop I built from nothing still blows my mind. Seeing my wife and kids smiling, hearing laughter in the house, knowing we’re stable and growing — that’s the kind of happiness I used to dream about when I was at my lowest.
Tattooing makes me happy because it’s more than art to me — it’s connection. It’s sitting down with someone who’s been through hell and helping them heal through ink. Watching people walk out of The Ink Society standing a little taller means everything.
I’m happiest when I feel aligned — when I’m creating, helping others, spending time with my family, and staying true to the person I fought to become. After everything I’ve been through, peace hits different. That’s real happiness to me.
