Hidden Gems: Meet Ashley Joshua of Ashley Joshua

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Joshua.

Hi Ashley, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Sure. My story really begins with learning how to survive. I grew up in a home with a lot of relational trauma; dysfunction, criticism, and chaos were the norm. I was the one who held everything together. I learned early on that if I could just appear put together, achieve more, or please everyone, maybe I’d be safe. Over time, I came to see authority itself as something to fear; something that could punish, mock, or harm. So I decided it was safer to find authority within myself. From the outside, I looked “fine,” but on the inside, I was completely disconnected from my body, my emotions, and from God.

I chased success thinking it would set me free. I wanted distance from home and control over every aspect of my life, not help. But no matter what I accomplished, I couldn’t shake the emptiness. I was giving authority away in every direction—relationships, career, image, even new age spiritual frameworks that promised peace but left me hollow.

At this point, I wasn’t involved in church and honestly hadn’t given Jesus much thought. Then one day, I heard a voice (what I would’ve called my intuition back then but now realize was the Holy Spirit) telling me to read the Bible. I opened to Matthew 15, and everything shifted. I met Jesus. Not as a distant or domineering authority, but a loving wise, kind, thoughtful teacher. Reading those words I knew in my spirit I was reading Truth. His authority is safe and powerful.

That encounter changed my entire understanding of healing. It’s not about self-improvement but about restoration. Now, my work helps others find their way back too: back to their bodies, back to their breath, and back to the loving authority of the one true living God who created them.

Today, I walk with people who feel lost, anxious, or disconnected, and help them rebuild from the inside out. It’s both deeply practical and deeply spiritual—body, soul, and spirit. I bring in somatic coaching, nervous system education, and Christ-centered guidance, always at a pace that honors the person.

Honestly, I never imagined I’d be doing this work. But I can’t imagine doing anything else. My life used to feel like constant striving. Now it feels like a gift of peace and joy.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Heck no, it has not been smooth at all. It’s taken a lot of time, humility, and intention to find my voice, and to trust the gifts God’s given me. For most of my life, I looked to others to tell me who I was or what I should do. I chased validation instead of calling, which led me down a lot of roads that were never meant for me.

But I can see now how even the detours were part of God’s design. Every wrong turn, every disappointment, every closed door has shaped how I walk with others today. Scripture says God works all things together for the good of those who believe in Him—and I live that truth. The road hasn’t been straight, but it’s been deeply refining.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
My work is rooted in one simple truth: authority isn’t the problem—false authority is.

I help women and men who are navigating emotional pain, relational trauma, unexpected change, or spiritual disconnection reconnect with God’s loving authority so they can feel safe in their bodies, clear in their minds, and grounded in truth again.
Through one-on-one private sessions, I blend Christian counseling, somatic coaching, nervous system regulation, and prayer. It’s a deeply integrative process, body, soul, and spirit, because real healing happens when all three are invited into the conversation. Every session is collaborative and Spirit-led. We slow down, listen to the body, and invite the Holy Spirit to guide the process.

What sets this work apart is that I don’t position myself as the authority in someone’s healing—Jesus holds that role. My job is to walk beside you, to create a safe, honest space where you can hear God’s voice for yourself and let Him restore what the world distorted.

I’m proud that my brand reflects that: calm, truthful, and anchored in God’s design. Clients describe the experience as “being seen without judgment,” “finally feeling peace,” and “finding a relationship with God that feels loving”

For anyone who feels weary from performance, confusion, or striving, I want them to know; healing isn’t about fixing yourself. It’s about returning to the One who created you, and letting His authority bring you back to life.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
What I most want readers to know is that healing isn’t out of reach, and it’s not something you have to perform your way into. Many of us have been hurt by distorted versions of authority—people, systems, and even religious spaces that misrepresented God’s heart. But the true authority of God isn’t controlling or condemning. It’s loving, protective, and deeply restorative.

If you’ve been afraid to slow down or hesitant to let God in because of what authority has looked like in your past, I want you to know that He is not like them. His authority heals.

Wherever you are in your journey, whether you’re rebuilding your faith, tending to old wounds, or simply trying to feel at home in your body again, there is a way forward that doesn’t require you to abandon yourself or your beliefs. It begins with honesty, curiosity, and a willingness to be led by the One who loves you most.
