Hi John, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My interest in martial arts spiked after seeing The Karate Kid in 1984 at 7 years old. I started training in Martial Arts in 1989 at 11 years old through the YMCA and other various short courses offered here and there. I joined a full academy program in 1992 at 14 years old. When I was 16 I got the chance to teach my first class due to my instructor being injured and from that day on I knew what I wanted to do with my life. I started my business and opened my Taekwondo School in 1999 and 26 years and many experiences later I’m still doing what I love to do and that is share the benefits of Martial arts training to anyone that wants to learn.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It certainly has been a rough road from my former instructor trying to hurt my business to building and road construction to recessions and the pandemic.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We specialize in teaching martial arts, self-defense and fitness to kids teens and adults. What sets us apart from all the other studios in our city is we have a family atmosphere as my wife helps me teach classes. I’m most proud of our brand because when people see it they know promote a positive family environment to our community. The main thing I would love people to understand about martial arts training is that it’s not just another after school sport. It is so much more. A source that can truly change your life if you embrace it. It’s also one of the few activities that entire families can participate in at the same time, work towards the same goals, over obstacles, and become life champions together.
