Hope Somadlangati shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hope , we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What is a normal day like for you right now?
At the moment I live with my brother. We have started a music group/content creator group called “Flow Finesse”. So everyday we make content and we go out to perform on weekends or do some endorsement work when we get the chance. The content includes in car freestyles and live streaming. It’s been getting some traction lately so that is what I’m busy with all day everyday.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Hope Somadlangati. I am an artist and dancer and go by the name of “Tubazzi”. That name came from my middle name “Tubatsi” but I changed it a bit because of my fascination with the Italian culture but that name is also a clan name from the Sotho tribe. It is passed down generations so I wanted to protect it incase I got popular one day that it doesn’t affect the sacredness of the name itself. I am also currently a member of “Flow Finesse” which is a rap group and content creator group. On the side I am a biologist by profession and love sciences
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
My father. When I was younger he would make sure I am up early to be the first one at school or first one to show up at anything I was to attend. He emphasized the importance of discipline and hard work. As much as I did not understand when I was younger, now I do. I learnt those two things and they developed into more things that now have shaped how I am and how I operate today. I take my work and work in general seriously and with that attitude I’ve reaped fruits that I would regard as important and rewarding in my life, achieving things that I myself didn’t think I could
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
It happens more often than not. I am someone who always asks questions (to myself) whenever I do not see what I would classify as progress. But I have learnt that it is not in me to give up, I am addicted to trying and love to see things through and their outcomes. I am not afraid to put in effort and when I think it’s enough, I dig deep and try even harder.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What do you believe is true but cannot prove?
Time is the most essential tool when it comes to progress and success. Fortunately, we all have it. If one decides to put in time on anything, they can achieve a lot and get to the highest level of it with it. It just takes you sticking with it and not stopping no matter what. It’s just a matter of time. But unfortunately, you never know how long it’ll take
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What will you regret not doing?
Not starting early. A lot of my ambitions and things that I realize I can do now and achieve, are things I believe I would now be far ahead in had I started early. When I was younger I was shy about chasing my dreams and making moves towards achieving my dreams. I am glad that I eventually built the confidence to do what I love today. But I wish I had started in high school. I would be far ahead guaranteed
