Check Out Author M.D. LaBelle’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Author M.D. LaBelle.

Author M.D., we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I was always an avid reader. When I was 12 I won a Young Author Competition and my horror story was traditionally published in an anthology. Over the years I wrote short stories for fun but never published them. 30 years later, I had a vivid dream and wrote it down the next morning. Over the next year or two I added a couple of chapters here or there. After it was finished, I kept it for about a year before my family pushed me to publish it. At first, I published only through Amazon.
Once readers seemed to like my books, I wrote another and it went to #1 on the Amazon’s bestsellers list in Romance. Soon I had my books published with many distributors and then won numerous awards. I kept pushing myself and after about 5 years I had written over 80 books in many genres. Now they are on bookshelves around the world in physical stores and online in more places than I can count.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t always been so smooth. Many times I’ve felt like quitting because sometimes it feels like I am on an uphill battle. For one thing I appear to be inept at social media no matter how many posts I make or videos I publish. Plus, there have been times when trying to balance a big family and a small business is more than difficult because there is only so much time in a day.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am my own cover artist, writer, editor, publisher and distributor. Also, I have my own website with online bookstore. While I write in many genres, I have always loved horror books and movies. Now I write horror, romance in its various subgenres, thrillers, fantasy, mystery, non-fiction, youth thrillers and childrens books. But I am most proud of the fact that The Luna’s Mate: The Alpha King has sold over 2 million copies worldwide, The Circus is in a scene of Blood On The Bleachers a slasher film and that I have had so many readers tell me I am their favorite author. Something that sets me apart from the rest of the authors is my ability to change genres at the flip of a coin and many of my readers love my diversity.

How do you define success?
I define success as something that you excel at beyond all odds. For me its art, music and writing considering I have won awards in all of them.
