Born out of resilience and creativity, Finny Lou & Co officially opened its doors in 2021—but its roots run deeper. What started as a stay-at-home mom’s way to support her family during the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic has blossomed into one of Michigan’s most charming and heartfelt small businesses. Specializing in handmade polymer clay earrings, bold gold hoops, and cozy embroidered sweatshirts and hats, Finny Lou & Co brings style and soul to every piece. This year, the business (and the family behind it) welcomed their third baby girl—making 2025 a year of even more growth and gratitude. Keep an eye on this local gem—it’s only just getting started.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
While Finny Lou & Co has been incredibly blessed with an outpouring of love and support from our community and loyal followers, the journey hasn’t been without its challenges. Like many small businesses, we’ve navigated our fair share of economic uncertainty—from inflation and rising material costs to the impact of tariffs. Despite these hurdles, the encouragement we’ve received from customers near and far continues to fuel our passion and perseverance. It’s that unwavering support that keeps us moving forward, one handmade piece at a time.

What sets us apart is the heart behind every design. Every item is handmade with care, creativity, and a deep connection to our journey as a small, family-run business.
One of the things I’m most proud of is the evolution of my work. Looking back at the earrings I made in 2021 compared to what I create today—it’s like night and day. The level of detail, the complexity of designs, and the wide range of color palettes have all grown in ways I never imagined. It’s a visual timeline of hard work, progress, and the love I pour into every piece.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Finny Lou & Co wouldn’t be what it is today without the incredible support system that’s stood behind me from day one. My husband and family have played a huge role in helping this dream come to life—whether it’s watching our girls so I can spend a late night in the office or making long trips with me to artisan markets across the state. Their constant encouragement and willingness to jump in wherever needed has meant the world to me.
I also owe an enormous thank you to every single customer and supporter who’s been part of this journey.
