Inspiring Conversations with Radi Al-Mahayni of Wealth Home Lending

Today we’d like to introduce you to Radi Al-Mahayni.

Hi Radi, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Everyone hits rock bottom in life at different times. Some when they are in there 40’s and realize they could have and should have done many things different, others with loss of family or a mentor mine was at 16 years old. I was getting into a lot of trouble, got arrested a few times, costed my family a ton of money with legal troubles and even dropped out of school. It took my mom bailing me out of Jail for me to realize I was in with the wrong crowds and heading the wrong way in life. Shortly after I got into phone sales and ended up getting referred to a mortgage company. I was determined to rewrite my destiny and even though at the time I didn’t know two things about a mortgage. I knew that if they would keep my long enough at the company I would learn. I stayed at that mortgage company for close to 6 years and built my way to the top of the stack rank as one of the greatest and best loan officers in the country. From there I started my journey into opening my own mortgage company proudly serving families in Michigan, Florida and Texas. Over the course of my career I have been fortunate enough to close over 5,000 mortgages and still counting. My journey to success wasn’t easy and without the grace of god I know I won’t be where I am today. Aside from determination and gods will if I could accredit my success to one thing its that I always tried to help everyone I got on the line with. Especially the people who needed it most. I wasn’t focused on money and top tier clients. My favorite people to work with where and still are those who need it most. The elderly lady living off retirement who can’t afford her mortgage, if I could just find a way to save her money she could live comfortable or the middle aged man trying to support his family and buy them a home to live in but doesn’t have enough funds to fully afford a down payment on a house if I could just find him a program that can reduce his funds needed to purchase this home. Those are the scenarios I live for and those are the reasons my clients like working with me and I have built a good referral based business. Because I am not about just making the most out of a deal, I am about helping people and making sure there experiences with me are not only transactional but at the same time memorable.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?

At the early stages of my career I was almost fired a number of times. Reason being I wasn’t educated enough about mortgages nor did I want to entertain using hard sell tactics on clients. It took me finding the right way to speak to people and ensuring they understood I was only looking to help them before I started getting enough business to get me off the chopping block.

I spent most of my days shadowing top sales guys that were willing to mentor me within the company along with listening to podcasts and youtube videos about sales and mortgages.

After maybe a full year of doing everything I can to find success in this industry, with the help of my mentor Ace at the time that had similar goals and intentions I found my flow and business started pouring in.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood memory would have to be Friday nights as a kid.

After a long week in school, me and my sisters would go with our parents to either the blockbuster down the street and grab a few movies to watch, My dad sometimes would grab us some pizza and we would stay up all night watching and having a good time or if we get bored watching movies we would bring out the old Monopoly board and maybe a deck of cards and play board games all night. Either way we would stay up all night and enjoy ourselves together and I think that’s one of the biggest reasons why me and my family for the most part have always remained close.
