Meet Amber Redman of Real Estate Professional

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Redman.

Amber Redman

Hi Amber, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
As a young child, I always knew I wanted to be a helper in my chosen career path when I became an adult. At that time, I had always envisioned it would be with animals as a veterinarian. I even knew over 101 dog breeds as a kid, thanks to my desktop CD-ROM titled “101 Dog Breeds”! As I came into adulthood, that desire began to shift. I still wanted to be a helper, but I was drawn more toward entering the psychology field and obtaining a Master’s in Social Work to be a therapist. In hindsight, this desire may have come from my own personal traumas and struggles I had endured throughout my life, including an abusive upbringing and struggles with addiction. As a young single mom at the time, attending 6 years of college for a master’s degree while working full-time seemed almost impossible. Paying the bills and providing were priorities. I had fallen into a number of sales positions over the years and was introduced to real estate through family and friends. It appealed to me because I had acquired many of the skills needed to be successful over the years through other jobs that I excelled at, and I appreciated the opportunity to run my own business with some flexibility for my family. I also understood this was a career where I could help a lot of people with one of the biggest transitions in their lives. At the time that I began to pursue my real estate license, I was in a dealership sales job and my grandfather had fallen terminally ill. Through my success in the dealership, I was able to save a decent sum of money and take the leap! My grandfather was the cornerstone of our family, and I knew it was my only opportunity to really be there and help and give back to him a fraction of how he helped and gave to me. I took 6 months to get my license and help care for him before his passing. Once licensed, I dove in headfirst and never looked back! It was a bit tedious getting started as any business owner knows. The paychecks do not just come rolling in, and it takes a lot of energy to learn your craft and do it well. Consistency and remaining driven and focused were key. The first 2 years really required a lot of learning and taking consistent action. I helped develop this discipline and remained accountable by being around others who were great at what they did! After that initial building stage, I began achieving awards, status, high client reviews and enough referral business, as well as a substantial enough income, that I knew it was all coming together! I am now in the process of expanding my business and have sold millions in real estate while helping hundreds of amazing families and people in the process. I have navigated through and successfully closed some of the most complex transactions while maintaining excellent outcomes. I have had the pleasure of helping new real estate agents learn how to be successful in the industry, which I truly enjoy doing. I have and strive to maintain some of the highest positive agent ratings and reviews in the Greater Lansing area. And in the process of building and growing my business, my amazing children have gotten to see what it takes to be successful, live a purposeful life and give back to others. I now have more time and flexibility to be their mom, and would not trade my career for another even on the toughest days! I got to where I am today because of my willingness to take risks, strong determination, the choice to make more of my life, positive support and influences, and most importantly, strength from God and my family.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting a business is always a challenge. It is very easy to feel defeated at times as an entrepreneur, especially when deals do not come to fruition as they inevitably will in the real estate industry. Some of the most challenging things I have experienced are staying patient, being consistent in the energy you put into generating business, managing money well while building your business, work/personal life balance, and choosing wisely who you do business with.
