Michaela, really appreciate you sharing your stories and insights with us. The world would have so much more understanding and empathy if we all were a bit more open about our stories and how they have helped shaped our journey and worldview. Let’s jump in with a fun one: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Since it’s the summertime, my family has loved going to beaches/lakes to find the prettiest rocks or to fish and swim.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Absolutely! So, I go by Coach Mic and I am a Mindset Practitioner through my own practice, Authentically You. I became a Coach after I almost lost my chest due to Breast Implant Illness (BII) during the pandemic. I had a whole life before that was filled with the worst and then to go through this as a single mom, I knew there had to be a method to the madness. It was during my recovery that I became a certified coach practitioner with a dual certification in Hypnolinguistics. Since then, the more I practiced what I preached, my own life started to blossom the way I had always manifested and envisioned, this past year in particular. I have recently been honored as one of the 50 women who inspire through the Rising Together Project created by Heather Mahoney. That recognition alone continues to open so many doors for me. I have loved stepping into the light to guide others where I once was, but more importantly how to make a mindset shift by teaching how it works on a cellular level.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What part of you has served its purpose and must now be released?
I would say my ego, for sure. I consider my ego as a shield to protect the authentic me. It shaped me into a person I never was, but needed to be in order to get through what I did. It has allowed me to learn so much about myself and society as a whole, to which now I can confidently release my ego in order to thrive in my authenticity for my journey, family and my clients.
What’s something you changed your mind about after failing hard?
That I could do it all alone. Growing up having to figure it out on my own made me conditioned to think I had no other choice. But we are not made that way and it’s absolutely okay to ask and have people help you. You’re not failing, you’re respecting yourself by not pushing too hard and letting yourself burn out or break down.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. How do you differentiate between fads and real foundational shifts?
How I differentiate between the fads and real foundational shifts is by how long I can delay the instant gratification. It’s okay to be proud and excited for a hot second I say, but staying quiet in the process allows you to become aware of the shift actually happening by paying attention to your energy, environment, and staying with it even when the crowd goes elsewhere. That’s when you find your real people places and opportunities.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
That she loved her kids so fiercely and loudly, she did her absolute best with everything she had, learned and gained. That she got to fall in love with the man of her dreams and he loved her even more than she ever thought could exist. Her healing healed thousands and she was everything inspiring, from her vulnerability speaking on her trials and tribulations to her glowing energy as she transformed them into her biggest triumphs, because she knew she never wanted another to feel less than or alone. Her journey was truly everyone’s survival guide.
