Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Anna Vasquez of Metro Detroit

Anna Vasquez shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Anna, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
That it’s fun playing with puppies all the time and its not a serious business. Yes, we definitely spend a lot of our time enjoying the animals but accepting responsibility for their constant care while they’re with us is serious.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Conforta Animale, LLC provides in home pet care in the Metro Detroit area and also dog walking in Wilmington, NC. We have in home private boarding for senior dogs that require more personal care. Reactive dogs also benefit from this environment.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child I believed that I’d need someone to support me financially as I got older. I knew I’d always work and make money but I didn’t see me being fully on my own financially, handling day to day tasks. The responsibilities were too great for me to tackle. That was a misconception I had of myself.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
You deserve better than you think.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. How do you differentiate between fads and real foundational shifts?
Fads rise in popularity quickly and are forgotten quicker. They have a shorter life than a foundational shift. A foundational shift can be seen in people’s behavior over a longer period of time.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
The connection an owner has with their pet. The term soul dog is accurate. They’re not just a dog. They’re support, a best friend, someone who’s excited when you arrive home. Loosing and saying goodbye to that bond is extremely painful.
