Story & Lesson Highlights with Tiffany-Rose Scott of Detroit

We recently had the chance to connect with Tiffany-Rose Scott and have shared our conversation below.

Tiffany-Rose, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What’s the most surprising thing you’ve learned about your customers?
The most surprising thing I’ve learned is how much my customers truly adore me and my brand. Many of them don’t know me personally, yet when they show up at my events or pop-up shops, they’re always so fun, welcoming, and supportive. It feels like an extended family I never knew I needed. Seeing them come in smiling, warm, and excited is such an amazing and fulfilling feeling.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Tiffany-Rose! A warm, bubbly mother, wife, and the proud founder of Skyes of Reign Collection, a brand inspired by my daughters and born right at my kitchen table during one of the scariest moments of my life. The pandemic. What began as a fun project with my daughter experimenting with lip gloss quickly grew into a full line of vegan cosmetics.

What makes Skyes of Reign unique is that I don’t sell beauty, I celebrate it. Many brands push the message that you need their products to be beautiful. I believe you were already beautiful before my brand. What I offer is art, creativity, and self-expression through bold, vibrant lip combinations and products that help you show up as your most authentic self.

Right now, I’m especially excited about the upcoming release of our new makeup vanity bag. A piece designed to be as stylish as it is functional. It’s just one of the many ways we’re continuing to expand while keeping creativity, confidence, and empowerment at the heart of everything we do.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child, I believed my wildest dreams were impossible, that people like me didn’t get to live extraordinary lives. Growing up, I thought success and big opportunities weren’t reserved for those beyond my reach .But through my journey as a wife, mother, and entrepreneur, I’ve unlearned that completely. Now I know that anything is possible when I show up with faith, resilience, and hard work. I’ve built a brand from my kitchen table, created opportunities for my family, and proven to myself that no dream is too big when I’m willing to put in the effort.

When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
I stopped hiding my pain and started using it as power when I truly embraced the meaning of, “Everything you go through is not for you, it’s for somebody else.” If I stay silent, how can I help? If I don’t share my test, how can it ever become a testimony? I realized I can’t be a vessel if I’m busy trying to cover up the very things I’ve bled through. My power comes from turning that pain into purpose.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
The biggest lie my industry tells is that women aren’t enough. If we don’t wear makeup, we’re told we should. If we do wear makeup, we’re told we shouldn’t. No one should ridicule me for rocking a bold red lip or playful blue mascara, and no one should bash me for the days I choose to go bare with only my clear lip gloss. Makeup should never be about meeting someone else’s standards. It’s about freedom of expression and showing up exactly how we want to.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What will you regret not doing?
Nothing. I believe everything I’ve already done has shaped me into who I am today, and everything I want to achieve in this life, I will go after. I refuse to live with regrets because every step, success or setback has been part of my growth and my journey.
