We’re looking forward to introducing you to Lakia Nicole . Check out our conversation below.
Lakia , so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Lately, I’ve been finding joy in meditation and taking walks outdoors while listening to music. It’s like stepping into my own world, where my imagination flourishes and brings me a sense of healing. I truly enjoy my mind. It’s a beautiful place to be…
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Lakia Nicole: I’m a singer-songwriter with a deep passion for music that started when I was just five years old. My journey began in church, where I developed my soulful voice and honed my craft.
I’m really excited about my latest project, The Love EP, produced by HeLoKey and expertly mixed and mastered by Vibe Studio Mixing…It reflects my growth as an artist and features the single “Love on Your Face.” This song captures my ability to blend emotional depth with catchy melodies, and I’ve noticed it resonates with many listeners.
I’ve also been fortunate to have my song “Butterfly” included in the film “Corruption,” which is a Teddy Van Gough flim on Tubi, and it’s featured in the SDM FLIX film “Demage.” Those experiences have been incredibly meaningful for me. Additionally, my singles “Love on Your Face” and “Love” appear in the film “No Strings,” produced by The Williams Brand Productions. I even had the opportunity to be an extra in a new movie that showcases a few tracks from my “Love EP.” It’s been an amazing journey, and I feel grateful for the chance to connect with others through my music.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
Heartbreak and betrayal have profoundly shaped how I see myself. These experiences opened my eyes to the reality of life, revealing that it’s not always the beautiful journey we envision. Instead, much of it can be rough and challenging. I’ve learned that while things may not necessarily get better in the way we hope, we can develop different ways to cope with difficult situations.
Life often involves connections with others that can shift unexpectedly, and sometimes the way those connections break can be heartbreaking. However, I believe that the pain of betrayal can ultimately guide you toward your purpose. It forces you to focus on what truly matters and helps you grow. So, I would say that these experiences have been pivotal throughout my entire journey. My latest single, “Letting Go,” explores the transformative power of releasing past pain and embracing new beginnings. It’s a heartfelt anthem born from my own experiences, encouraging listeners to shed what no longer serves them. You can find it on all digital platforms—give it a listen!
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering has taught me lessons that success never could. It transforms you and reveals a strength within that can be harnessed to create. I believe that when you endure pain, it fuels your desire to heal, and the best way I know how to heal is through love and creativity.
Suffering pushes me to channel my emotions into something beautiful and positive, driving me to create more and understand the importance of healing. Many people are going through their own struggles and need healing, and I’ve come to realize that sharing love and greatness can help others shift out of their suffering. It’s a reminder of how essential positivity is in the world, and how our experiences, even the painful ones, can lead to something profoundly good.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
The public version of me is the real me. I’ve always been real—I don’t know how to be anything else. My whole life has been out there for the world to see. If you scroll through my social media, you’ll see my journey—my growth, my struggles, my wins. You’ll see me when I had very little, when I was a struggling mother, as I continue evolving as an entrepreneur. You’ll see the highs and the lows, the raw emotions, the setbacks, and the comebacks. I’ve shared it all. These days, I’m more private in some ways, but that doesn’t mean I’m any less real. I just believe that truth doesn’t need to be shouted to be lived. I’ve always been true to myself, and I always will be.”
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. When do you feel most at peace?
“I feel most at peace when I’m in my room, singing the melodies that live in my mind and recording them. That moment—when an idea becomes sound—is the first manifestation of my music. It’s like a birth, but without pain. It’s pure, creative joy. That’s where I feel most free, most myself.”
