Liz Parker Kuhn of Farmington Hills on Life, Lessons & Legacy

Liz Parker Kuhn shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Liz, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What is a normal day like for you right now?
Well, I just had a baby, so there is no “normal day” right now since I’m on maternity leave! Generally though I like to blog for a bit in the mornings – on Fridays, I have a “Friday Five” post that I usually write.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I started Yes/No Films in January 2010, and the name later changed to Yes/No Detroit in 2017 or so, when I was blogging about subjects that were more than just film. I started my other blog, Books I Think You Should Read, in summer 2009 – I had just graduated from the University of Michigan and hadn’t yet secured a job, so I had a lot of free time on my hands.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who taught you the most about work?
Most likely my parents – they taught me that hard work would benefit me throughout my life.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Everything will work out in the end! (and if it hasn’t worked out, then it’s not the end)

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes and no. A lot of people think I’m an extrovert, but I’d say I’m an extroverted introvert – I enjoy some alone time to recharge, even if it’s just scrolling my phone in silence, but also like seeing friends and getting out of the house, too.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
Not so much “customers” as my blog readers, but I didn’t do my Friday Five post for two weeks recently because I was in the hospital after giving birth, and then adjusting to being at home with my new baby, and two people asked about the posts and if they’d be resuming. So I would say that is what my readers might miss most.
