Today we’d like to introduce you to Amy Watson.
Hi Amy, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I have always been artsy, so picking up a camera to photograph my children’s sports was just natural. Having also been an athlete I could anticipate the shots. As my oldest became a high school senior, I decided if I could take good pictures of him while moving fast, I should be able to take pictures of him posing. I loved coming up with places to go and posing ideas as much as I loved a football game. That is when I decided I could turn photography into a side business for myself and AmyG images was born.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I just haven’t put myself out there as much as others do, and I don’t advertise as well as I should. My client base is currently small, and I rely on word of mouth. I would love to be able to expand my client base. I just absolutely love being creative and getting to know my clients and their families. It can be a real challenge with some of the more shy kids, I enjoy making someone feel self confident and bringing out their personality.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As a photographer Im always able to be creative with so many things during a session. I specialize in natural light senior pictures, but also work with families, sports, dance, and small weddings. I love coming up with ideas and talking with my client to know what vibe they are looking for as well. I feel I’m really good with bringing out my clients personality and beauty from within. We laugh, we play, and we look amazing during our sessions together.
What were you like growing up?
I grew up being athletic and artistic. I believe that helps with understanding movement, whether they are running down the football field or standing in a flower field. I feel like I have a good eye for composition after years of many varieties of art classes.
