Hi Emily, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I actually started my career as a high school science teacher. I loved working with students, but after becoming a mom, I realized the long hours, late nights grading, and constant demands were pulling me away from the family life I wanted. I knew I needed a better balance — something that would still let me help people, but also give me more control over my time.
That’s when I decided to take a leap of faith into real estate. It was scary — I was leaving a stable career for something completely new, with no guarantees. But I saw an opportunity to combine my love for teaching with helping families through one of the biggest decisions of their lives: finding a home.
In many ways, I still get to “teach” every day — just in a different classroom. Now, I help clients understand the market, navigate the process, and feel confident in their choices. As a Filipino mom raising two kids in the Novi–Northville–Farmington Hills area, I also share family-friendly local resources so my clients can feel truly rooted in their communities.
Looking back, taking that risk was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Real estate has given me the flexibility to be present for my kids while building a business I’m proud of. And just like in my teaching days, it’s still about connection, trust, and helping people succeed — only now, the “graduation” moment is handing over the keys to their new home.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not at all — but I think that’s where the growth happens. When I left teaching for real estate, I went from a steady paycheck to a completely commission-based career. In those early months, I had to learn everything from scratch — how to market myself, how to generate leads, and how to manage the uncertainty of not knowing when the next closing would be. Balancing that with raising a toddler and a newborn was no small feat. There were plenty of late nights and moments of doubt, but I kept coming back to my “why” — creating a life where I could be present for my kids and still have a meaningful career.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a residential realtor in the Novi–Northville–Farmington Hills area, and I specialize in helping busy moms and families navigate buying and selling with as little stress as possible. I’m known for being extremely organized, communicative, and resourceful — the teacher in me loves breaking down the process so my clients feel informed and empowered. I also love sharing local, family-friendly recommendations, from playgrounds to coffee shops, so my clients feel at home beyond just the four walls of their house.
One of my proudest moments was helping a young family buy their first home after months of searching in a competitive market. Seeing them unlock the door for the first time reminded me exactly why I do this work.
I don’t just sell houses — I build relationships. My clients know I’m in their corner long after the closing table, whether they need a trusted contractor, a list of local preschools, or just someone to talk through their next big life decision. My approach is high-touch, highly personalized, and rooted in genuine care.
Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Leaving teaching for real estate was the biggest professional risk I’ve ever taken. I traded the security of a salaried job for the uncertainty of entrepreneurship, with two young kids depending on me. But I’ve learned that risk is really just stepping into the unknown with a clear vision and the willingness to figure things out along the way. I believe the biggest rewards — in business and in life — come from taking calculated risks, especially when they align with your values and long-term goals. For me, the payoff has been not just financial growth, but the freedom to design a life I love.
