Conversations with Elle

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elle.

Hi Elle, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Wow brief lol. I started acting in the 2nd grade always the thespian. I played the drums I performed in all the plays growing up. I was the popular kid for sure in school. My plans were to always act but I loved to write. When my father was murdered in 2003 my dreams were deferred. Once I got to college I had a really big 21st bday and Bravo and Ty Haygood took me under their wing and showed me the ropes as a party promoter. During that time I suffered from depression really badly and took a break on following my dreams which was acting and I was in college for sports journalism. 2016 I decided to give it to God and remove myself from places and spaces that no longer served me. I started to take acting more seriously and started my YouTube The Ellematic View

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Well as I stated previously, you know I suffer from depression. If I could reflect it started before my parents broke up and got progressively worse. So about 7 years old. The thriving child died. I was sunken. To this day I have moments when I can get in a “funk”. But my relationship with God is real solid. We get through it together.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I thoroughly enjoy making people happy and story telling. Rather it’s through film, podcast or poetry I want to tell and talk about what’s uncomfortable. I want people to know they aren’t alone and learn new perspectives. Educate. I plan to start a podcast this year. Filming more writing and producing more films. I cowrote a film on tubi called “Justice” which is loosely based on the murder of my father. It was tragedy and triumph telling that story. Revealing Dealing and Healing is therapeutic. That’s my job here on earth. To help Gods children heal through art.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
My peace. I have no purpose without peace. God is the center of my peace and pleasing Him is my purpose. It goes hand in hand for me. That’s the true measure of success to me; “is what I’m doing pleasing to God?” I’m not perfect by far I fall short daily. I’m no Bible thumper, I’m a sinner still finding redemption but I know what matters most. The kingdom not the village.
