Today we’d like to introduce you to Kirsten Leins.
Hi Kirsten, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I actually started my career as an early education teacher. For seven years, I poured my heart into early education, thinking that was my lifelong path. But somewhere along the way, I felt this pull toward something more creative and personal. I picked up a camera, fell completely in love with photographing women, and realized how much I loved helping them see themselves in a new, empowered light.
I began shooting boudoir sessions from a little in-home studio, learning as I went and growing a loyal client base. Over time, I saw how deeply this work mattered. It wasn’t just about pretty pictures, it was about confidence, healing, and celebrating women exactly as they are. That passion led me to open Radical Babe Studios in downtown Fort Wayne, giving me the space and reach to serve more women and couples from all over. I feel like I’ve truly stepped into my purpose. Every session reminds me how powerful it is when women see their own beauty through a different lens.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. I opened my downtown studio in early 2020, which meant jumping into full-time photography right before the world shut down. Like a lot of small business owners, I faced a lot of fear and uncertainty, especially in an industry built on personal connection.
But instead of letting that stop me, I leaned into it. I focused on serving my existing clients, building relationships, and staying visible even when shoots weren’t happening. It forced me to get creative, sharpen my business skills, and really figure out who I was as a brand.
Looking back, that tough season made me stronger, more adaptable, and more connected to my purpose. It taught me that resilience matters just as much as talent.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in luxury female led boudoir photography, creating empowering experiences for women and couples. My work goes way beyond just taking beautiful photos, I’m known for creating a space where clients feel safe, seen, and celebrated exactly as they are.
At Radical Babe Studios, we’re an all-inclusive experience. Hair and makeup, a client closet, pose coaching, and curated sets are all part of the day. But what really sets us apart is how personal the experience feels. My background in education taught me how to connect deeply with people, and I bring that same heart into every session. Clients aren’t just coming for photos, they’re stepping into a day of laughter, confidence, and real connection.
What I’m most proud of is the impact this work has. I’ve seen women walk in nervous and walk out feeling powerful, beautiful, and completely themselves. That transformation is why I do what I do.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
My best advice is to lead with genuine connection. The relationships that have helped me grow the most weren’t about chasing big names or trying to impress people they started with real conversations, mutual support, and showing up consistently.
I’ve found so much value in online communities, especially ones built around education or creative business. I took courses, joined mastermind groups, and stayed active in spaces where people actually wanted to share knowledge and cheer each other on.
Also, don’t be afraid to reach out to someone you admire, even if it’s just to say thank you or ask a thoughtful question. The worst they can say is no, but more often than not, people appreciate the sincerity. And honestly, sometimes your best mentors are your peers who are growing right alongside you. Community over competition.
