Daily Inspiration: Meet Zaria Piotter

Today we’d like to introduce you to Zaria Piotter.

Hi Zaria, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Ever since I was young I really appreciated art. Whether it was fine/digital art, music, cooking, or editing videos. I started to really practice drawing since I was in the fourth grade. Over the years, I have explored various mediums of art. Such as graphite, oil/acrylic painting, charcoal, fiber arts, animation, and video design. The thing that I enjoy most is that I am able to bring my creativity to life, and express deeper meanings and emotions through art. When I entered high school, I learned more about myself and my art style. I had many supportive teachers and family who guided me to be the artist I am today. When I was in my sophomore year, my teacher really liked my art piece of my late dog and he entered it into an art show at the Anton Art Center. Out of 1,000 submissions, I had won 3rd place. My family now has this piece in our dining room to remember our dog. I made the piece to capture the lively and easy-going personality our dog had. In addition to that, I took two years of Graphic Design and Technology in high school. In my second year, I was requested to make a promotional poster for the play, “Mean Girls High School Version”. I worked with my teacher and the teacher of the Pankow Performing Arts to create the perfect poster. I was able to learn how to make an informational and fun poster while following the rules of copy-write and proper credibility. Much more recently, I had gained a few clients to edit videos. I am currently making promotion/commercial videos for them. I plan to keep creating art and sharing it to the world. I am entering into college in the fall to major in Digital Art/Animation and minor in Video Production.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The progression of being an artist came with many great developments as well as a few struggles. My biggest struggle would be myself. I have always been a perfectionist. While that is a very admirable trait I have, it also tends to bring me discouragement. I have to remind myself that no one is perfect because we are all human. The mistakes that are made by an artist are what make the art they create unique.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am going into college to major in Digital Art/Animation and minor in Video Production. In the future, I primarily want to work for an animation company to bring fresh ideas to life and on the screen for the world to see. Within my family and friends, I am known for my various creative outlets. If there is any situation that needs a creative solution, I am who they will come to. I make cards, crafts, and digital projects for any upcoming events or occasion. I am most proud of my creative mind and how I can see something at a different angle. The thing that sets me apart from most is that I am young and as I grow so will my art.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
In the next 5-10 years, I anticipate to see my art expand as greatly as my mind. I am hoping that I am apart of an animation company and creating stories and lessons to inspire others.
